"Hey Jack! Have you seen Benny?" (about 1:25) Look carefully at the sign that Jack is cleaning just here and you'll notice that it says "GO Transit" - a dead giveaway if you live in the Toronto area. GO Transit is the local commuter rail service. So yes, that is _not_ Chicago. It's Toronto (so, not even the US).

"YOU BETTER DO SOMETHING YOU IDIOT CAUSE YOUR GONNA HAVE 200 TONS OF LOCOMOTIVE SMASHING THROUGH CENTRAL STATION ON ITS WAY TO MARSHALL FIELDS!!" This has got to be one of the funniest lines in movie history..LOL

You can feel the tension in this scene.

a great scene in one of the greatest train-movie ever made, hell even the locomotive crash is hands down the best I've seen in a movie, and no CGI can compare to this type of special effects

Fred Willard's voice never aged practically as he got older no wonder why he would get a lot of roles in Hollywood.
@cosmokramer1987 Жыл бұрын
He hardly aged at all during his life and he was in his mid 40s here. Only towards the end of his life he aged noticeably but still very well.

Tells him there’s no solution. Then calls him an idiot for not having a solution. Nice guy.

He’s so damn good in this; this is my favorite part of the movie outside of Pryor & Wilder. And the THE BEST non funny line in the entire movie is dropped in this scene. Willard kills this; and this was his first mainstream movie roll...

Even though it's a straight performance by a very funny actor I really liked Fred in this movie. He really sells the growing anxiety of this poor schlub caught in an impeding disaster.

"You better do something, you idiot because in ten minutes, you have 200 tons of locomotive smashing through central station." Actually, an emd fp7a weighs 260,000 pounds each. For two locomotives, that's 520,000 pounds. 1 ton equals 2,000 pounds or 260 tons
I just watched this movie of mine on dvd that was last night

Silver Streak was made as a tribute to Cary Grant and North By North West. Grant apparently loved it.

I love this movie.l must've we seen it at least fifty times or more when I was a child back in 1975. I was just 9 years old then.I cried when I seen these parts the movie just now because it made me think about how innocent I was and how the world was so much for a better place with all this crime hatred and prejudice. They don't make movies like this anymore because people will pay for any crap that comes out.
