My thoughts also. I usually don't have to pull my mpc out this much to match Dex, maybe the playback is too slow?

@@ebookuncle I just compared this to the CD recording and it's a little bit flat. The CD itself already sounds a little flat. The other take "Freddie Freeloader" on this album is better in tune.

Once they get cooking, sounds to me like everyone is playing in tune with each other which is the main thing. But on this recording, everything is about 10 to 15 cents flat of concert, to my ears. Could be the tape speed. I like it, at any rate. Dexter is a little relatively flat in the first chorus though.Fair enough, a quartet with guitar and upright bass will always have pitch ambiguities out of the gate. That said Dexter's tone and phrasing is obviously killer. Philip Catherine and Billy Higgins sound incredible too.

Definently very flat cause I was just playing another transcription and I was spot on but this one I had to pull out my mpc. I like it though it seems fitting for the piece and he doesn't seem out of tune with the rest of the band
