This is great stuff. I remember a friend in the military telling me Geoff Tate (queensryche) had a five octave voice. It made me wonder what range Freddie had. This video proves that Mercury is still my favorite singer and as good as Tate in high pitch vocalization (and better at mid and low range singing).

Nice compilation of these notes, but there are some mistakes - Time Waits for No One was recorded in 1986, It's A Beautiful Day was done in 1980, and you're missing the D♭5 in the choruses of A Winter's Tale.
@gottabme6302
@gottabme6302 2 жыл бұрын
I'm kinda glad a Winter's Tale was left out....I can't listen to that one without crying my eyes out. Probably the last song written by Freddie, he knew he was dying, and yet he experienced bliss in his beloved Montreux. Jim writes about this time in his book Mercury and Me. The song always has me emotional.

.......however, a two-line h can also be heard here (which is a large third more than the two-line g heard so far), given the lower limit known so far (large B) now defines the 3 octave + semitone range.

Technique is not everything there is so much more to singing, and Freddie's technique is not that bad. He never lost any range through the years.
