For all those who put Molly down, Freddie rarely did long interviews yet he did 2 with Ian (Molly) Meldrum. He and Molly got on well and this would have been one of the reasons that he took the time out to do this interview for Countdown. Plus, both were gay and mixed in similar circles and had friends in common like Elton. Molly is no nonsense and doesn't try to 'please' in his interviews. He is also very interested in the music in all his interviews, not shitty gossip. I think Freddie liked that. He is way more relaxed than in other interviews I have seen and spent the entire day with the Countdown crew.

It would have helped him, actually. Professional vocal lessons make your voice better, not worse. His thoughts/answers to all Mollys questions. I especially loved the off camera banter where Freddie's looking for drink refill Molly accedes puts Freddies order in then wants a scotch & coke himself haha then Freddie offers Molly a cigarette like they're mates ( prolly are/were) pure gold!, also loved how Freddie ended with self labelled "musical prostitute" bloody brilliant this is a trip down memory lane for me the whole interview is A++++ enjoyed this from beginning to end wonderful Cheers!

I don’t ever tire of listening to him talk or sing... he’s funny & yet a musical genius & a perfectionist. I’m sure at times he was terrible impatient w/colleagues & others, but that’s WHAT drove that band to the TOP FASTER. I praise Fred & Brian, John & Roger for pushing forward in the early to mid 70s & 80s. If critics didn’t like them, Queen says, “ F*CK YOu!” Threy kept on doing.what they wanted & knew what was best.

I always was amazed as a kid how quietly spoken Freddie was in interview: totally the opposite to his loud onstage presence. Brian May is exactly the same. Meldrum always seems very awkward though.

Freddie's last time in Australia.. They played sports arena type venues in the 10,000 seat range. Multiple nights in Sydney and Melbourne. Maybe only 100,00 Aussies at the most got to see this legendary act for the last time..

7.34 min Freddie needs a Vodka and Tonic, then both Freddie and Molly light up and smoke during the interview...this is pure gold. Poor Molly his joke at the start was awkward, still Molly is an Aussie legend!
