Beautiful powerful statue just like he was on stage and in his life!!!Hats off to Brian and the band members for really and truly honouring Freddie their friend and making sure he is never forgotten by anyone and being kind to his mother!! We lost a legend but she lost her baby boy!!Also very impressed by Monserrat for showing her compassion towards Freddie’s memory and his mother by showing up and crying as she also lost a kinder spirit! Love this statue & will always love Freddie. It is still so sad after all the years that have passed since he left us to know that he is gone. Every video and every Queen song I still get choked up. His spirit and music will live on forever. Freddie darling, you are a legend and we miss you so!

Wether you knew him during his lifetime or after, you couldn't know Freddie and not love him for his sheer beauty, humanity, talent, and wonderful personality. I have watched quite a few videos and documentaries on him and have yet to hear anyone say anything unkind. I see him as truly lovable. But.......no one has expressed the love and admiration for him as true and pure as Irena Sedlecka, this amazing sculptor of his statue. "I can close my eyes and draw him. I know him by heart"

Lovely sculpture by Irena and been very lucky enough to see it a few times and when been there nice to see flowers left and people visiting even in winter when went. It is the best place there on the lake as their old studios at the Casino is literally a few minutes walk away and you can visit that as well. There is also a Pizzeria near there where the group use to go when in town recording. Freddie did have a place there on the lake but also stayed with the group when touring in 1986 at the Montreux Palace hotel near there and thanks to a friend who had a girlfriend on reception there a few years after 1986 we got to visit his suite and take photos on the balcony where the group stood for A Kind Of Magic photo shoot. Last time saw the group was their last at Knebworth in ‘86. Fab day that was, even though trying to find the car after was a bit difficult when all the lights went out!! Happy days, RIP Mr Bad Guy ❤️

Brian May said they originally looked at London to place the statute..and the people wanted it..but the authorities had a issue with it..so they finally got the approval from Montreux. And was fitting as it brought Freddie so much enjoyment when he was there.. but my question is why London had an issue as he was a Legend and still is.. as a US citizen..I just can't understand as I truly have loved this man since they began..and he was entitled to live anyway he liked..as "Who wants to live forever" anyway". Amazing video - thank you. To hear Irena Sedlecka talk about her work and share her thoughts is simply great. I have always wanted to see the unveiling of this statue, the atmosphere and reactions. I can't believe I have finally seen Freddies father (for the few seconds) at the unveiling, almost a final piece to the puzzle.

I have the impression this figure shows both a young and mature Freddie. The one from crazy little thing video at least and 86 era. It is a mix of the two Freddies. Or there could be many more of his faces in this statue. Maybe because she saw many pictures of him. In my mind however I most often see him as the 86 Freddie.

I think the reason for there not being statue of our beloved Freddie in this counrty is some idiot/ idiots would desecrate it and that would the most awful thing to happen. There's only one Freddie bless his beautiful soul. What a talent and how I feel honoured to have born when I was so as I was able to hear and see Queen.
