So many chats are so awful ... I don't think anyone knew Freddy. He took his secrets with him. He was a genius. He was a complex and very special, intricate man. He had a wonderful inner world, and I think few could access it, or maybe no one. "Deal with Freddie's music, not his intimate life." Respect him, he was a great, good man. Jim Hutton decided to leave his rented attic and his job when he met Freddie. Pretending not to know who was Freddie, which was and still is, quite unusual for a hairdresser who works in a hotel where famous people were used to come. Recognizing the "famous" was part of his job. In the same time , he worried that his family living in Ireland, who had no phone in that time, discovered Jim Hutton had sexual relation with such a star (in his own words). Don't you think this man is making fun of us? Freddie Mercury cheated on Jim Hutton like he did with all his lovers and I can't understand what he was doing with such a peasant. Gasperi Alcide Jim, Joe and Freestone all lived for free in Freddie’s house, with all their needs met, and Freddie was also very generous with them, but in the end he left the bulk of his fortune and ashes to Mary, whom he trusted the most. Besides Joe, who died of AIDS, the other two wrote books about Freddie, which Freddie would have hated. Freestone continues to make money off of Freddie to this day. Nowhere do we see any betrayal by Mary to this day.

Freddie was indeed the best male singer I've heard. He was a genius and that's what leaves me a bit confused that he would be so irresponsible to think that AIDS would not affect him. AIDS does not discriminate. I think he was playing Russian Rolette with his life as well as others involved. I'm happy that he did find love, but look at the cost. We all want to find love, but not at such a high sacrifice. It certainly comes out in the lyrics of his songwriting. Another good man bites the dust, so to speak. I cry every time I see how gifted he was and yet he could not see that in himself. He seemed to be very focused on what he wanted to accomplish in life with his music and songwriting skills. I feel very sad thinking about the agony he must have endured at the end, and yet he remained strong and focused till the very end. R.I.P. Freddie Mercury. You are deeply missed.

Before HIV all life ending STDs were completely treatable with antibiotics. There wasn’t probably anything about HIV known when he got the disease that he died from. I don’t think he knew he was playing with his life in any way. It’s not right to look at things in the past through a newer lens. My daughter had cancer in the early 80’s and it was just becoming known how the disease was passed and they didn’t have any screening tests yet for blood. They barely had a test for HIV. So her surgeries were nerve wrackingly painful to not know if they needed to use blood, and if they did, to not know for months and months if she would have contracted HIV from it! Luckily she never had to have blood transfusions during her surgeries. To call him irresponsible for something even the medical community barely knew about is ludicrous. To call him irresponsible is to call anyone that contracted HIV from medical procedures equally irresponsible. Have more knowledge before posting crap.

Julia Martin This is totally true. We knew almost nothing about AIDS in these times and people called it "the new disease"... Also, saying Freddie hated himself and didn't see his own talent and played Russian roulette with his life, exposing himself to AIDS, seem really ignorant to me :/ Still agree it's a very sad end for him, and a tragedy for his loved ones and for music in general... I often think how it would have been if he contracted aids today... what a bad timing... :(

I want to like both Mary and Jim. But something bothers me about Mary. I read somewhere that Jim had wanted a couple of Freddie’s cats. But Mary supposedly took the two cats he wanted and put them in a shelter. It’s been stated that she and Jim never really got along well. Jim's book has a lot of things in it..I respected Mary at first, Now, I feel she was bit of a bully. Freestone talked about how freddie had to "behave" when Mary was around. She bullied Jim. She held Freddie in the palm of her hand ( she held his secret) I feel she was,and is very vindictive . As far as the will goes. He wasn't close to his family.. He grew up away from home. Not in a home setting like a lot of family's do. So to leave his fortune to them wouldn't really make much since. People seen it as the right thing to have done..freddie wasn't obligated to leave them with anything. They weren't entitled to it. As far as other people he trusted, they were all sick too. @@janiceazar7173 i have read the remarks & have to say something. mary got 50%, his parents got 25% & his sister got 25%. mary was not in the house when freddie died. who took care of him? jim his husband. joe who use to be his lover but was now just a friend & did all the cooking because freddie love having people over for lunch & dinner so joe earned his money. peter his assistant & took care of so many things for freddie. all loved freddie so he was taken care of by the people who loved him. the 3 took turns laying on top of the blankets next to freddie. if he need any thing he would nudge jim arm. when jims time was up freddie grabbed his hand & jim would give him a kiss on the fore heard & say i love you freddie & freddie let go of his hand. how many time when freddie & jim would cuddle on the couch to watch old movie did jim kiss his fore head & say i love you freddie? too many times to count. sex was out of the picture because freddie was so sick. freddie told them he had aids & he told jim he could leave but jim said i am staying & he stayed till the end. freddie peed the bed & they changed the bed & when jim went to change freddies boxer shirts he asked the other men to leave. jim said he could feel freddie lift his leg so it would be easier to get his shorts on & then he took his last breath. jim said freddie is gone but the others turned around & said no & ran to get a mirror to put under his nose but jim said he is gone. i have read about his parents. freddie went every thursday to see his parents & get cheess buns from his mom. on her birthday when he was in montreux when he was very ill he sent her flowers & called her & told her he would make it up to her. does this sound like a cold hearted person? freddie said he is not the person you see on stage. on stage is his job.the real freddie was more on the shy side & introverted. a really lovely person. he did not seek the lime light they came after him. he just wanted his privacy & as jim said some one to come home to. did freddie step out on jim? I am just wondering if Freddie's true love was Jim, then how come that he gave the largest amount of his wealth to Mary rather than Jim? An amount equally the same with his real family? The reason he left the majority of his money and estate to Mary could be because he knew jim was sick and didn't expect him to live much longer. Freddie didn't expect medications to be made shortly after his passing. Also if Jim didn't care about him then why did he stay until freddies last breath. And there is an interview where Freddie says that he was very happy with his relationship and that he couldn't ask for better and that he finally found the person he was looking for all his life, this interview was during the time he was with jim. Also Freddie knew Jim had been diagnosed with HIV, and Freddie might of assumed that he wont live long. While Mary had a child and Freddie wanted to help her out. Excuse me? Have you ever even read his book? He explained Freddie in very fond ways so don’t you say anything about Jim. He never wanted his money he could actually care less for his money. He only ever wanted someone who wouldn’t let him carry on lonely. And Freddie Mercury was just the person for him. Freddie would always buy Jim things and Jim never wanted Freddie to spend too much money on him because he was just a lonely hairdresser that had nothing no money nobody. He had recently then had a boyfriend but they never carried on well. But Freddie Mercury was the greatest thing that ever happened to him. Even Freddie picked his partners very carefully after he was physically and mentally abused and hurt in his past relationship. Jim Hutton was by far the greatest person that ever happened to him too.
