The Himalayan is a good bike to travel on ( providing you're not in a hurry ) Also, great MPG. Last 2 years, I've been to Europe on my Himalayan. 2021, I went through France and down to the south of Spain, coming back by ferry from Santander. 2022, took the channel tunnel, then rode down to Croatia through several countries, and through The Alps and The Dolomites. Both trips I rode the back roads, absolutely no toll roads, partly because I wanted to see the countryside, and partly because the Himalayan doesn't really like motorway speeds. Next month, I'm off around Ireland on my C125 Super Cub from South Bucks, so once again will be keeping to the back roads. Planning on taking a coastal route clockwise. It'll be around 1800 - 2000 miles door to door, I think. Looking forward to seeing how your trip goes, Freddie, as I'm planning on going to Africa next year. Sorry to see that you were seasick. Never had it myself, but, then again, always had a very smooth crossing.

When I see the shot like at the small pond thing, I can’t help but think of the set up. You rode past but notice this cool location, so turn around and ride in. Get off, kit off. It’s hot. You unpack your camera and tripod, find a spot and set up. You put your kit back on. Press record. You walk back to the bike. Get on. Get back off. Helmet off, jacket off, do your bit. Finish your bit, have an actual break while packing the camera away, get kitted up, ride away. The dedication is real, haha.

Hiya Freddie, I did down to Cartagena from Newhaven just before the festive period, 2022. The idea was to get to Morocco and spend Christmas in the Sahara. It was freezing cold when I left Lincolnshire to get the night ferry over to Dieppe. After getting off the ferry I had to sleep a few hours in the terminal, waiting for the sunrise to de-frost the roads, before I set off over to Angouleme, to a friends place, to stay a day there and meet my companion for the next part of the journey the day after. I was on a Himalayan, the speedo wire went kaput & had to be resoldered. That part of the journey was soul destroyingly cold, a mix of toll roads and French D roads. The guy I was with was on an Africa Twin, we headed towards the Bardenas Reales, the next day we managed to get some off-road in before setting off to a place called Una in the Cuenca National park, the place was stunning as was the Bardenas Reales. Next day we got to Cartagena, and this was where I met another guy who was part of the journey over to Morocco but also where I had to part ways with both the guys due to troubles with the bike. I hunkered down till past New Years & after shimming my cush rubbers and fixing the stretched out split link on the chain I was able to get to Alicante to obtain a new chain & sprockets and go on my journey back up thru Spain and into France on the way back to the UK once more. Teruel was a highlight of this part of my journey. I took longer going back to enjoy my journey rather than rushing as the initial outer journey had been taking five days to get to Cartagena. I didn't get over to Africa this time but still had an adventure both with other riders and on my own. I met old friends again and made new ones. And a friend who has been building a barn find Yamaha Tenere Dakar bike, which is almost complete, saw my journey and now wants to go with me the next time. Anyone thinking about it, however big or small your journey, go do it! Enjoy!
