What’s even funnier I watched it on the Criterion Channel. They had it under their Razzie movie section

I watched this movie for the first time recently and really enjoyed it lol. It's obviously super tasteless but Tom Green's complete commitment to making something this tasteless is almost respectable, and at the very least, it's certainly memorable. The soundtrack largely being punk songs work well too, since the movie shares a lot of punk's shock sensibilities. My biggest issue with the movie is that it actually didn't go far enough. All the most shocking and memorable scenes happen in the first half so the whole thing loses steam by the second half. That first half was so shocking and tasteless that the movie wasn't able to sustain it for the rest of the runtime lol

Not a particular fan of grossout humor - when it's funny it's funny; when it's not it's not. I could certainly see this movie being as terrible as they say with a director who doesn't appreciate Tom Green and with standard comedy acting. As it happens, the casting was perfect for Green's style of absurdity and of course the director "gets" Green. I also get Green. If it was just grossout humor, others would be able to emulate it. All who have tried have made fools of themselves, achieving exactly what Green is accused of by those who don't appreciate him. For a brief but potent example of what this looks like, watch the outtake at the end where his then girlfriend (Barrymore) tries to embody the character of his art showing that in fact, it's not easy being green.
