I know this is an oldish video but I really want to thank you Freddy for being so honest and putting your experience out there. I feel we´ve had quite similar experiences, I too failed my theory test and felt embarrassed (although those tests are nothing like the usual tests students face) and immediately after I got my license I got a scholarship abroad so no driving for a year which, long story short, means at the moment I struggle with my driving confidence. I relate so much when you said that you had meltdowns and you increase your challenges little by little ("Le´s go I´ll go to that shop that is a bit trickier today". Or "maybe I will try to park in line this morning" that sort of thing) I think is really important to share this feelings and experiences for others to see we are not alone but I understand how overwhelming and frightening it feels to expose oneself in this manner so thank you so much for being brave and kind, I don´t think I´m the only one touched. XOXO

I turned 17 on the 24th of October 2014 and started learning to drive a few days after my birthday and then did my theory the 5th of Feb 2015 and passed first time then didn't take my test till the 25th of June 2015 and passed first time so I was learning to drive for about nine months. I changed driving instructors as well in that time so that set me back a few weeks. I really lacked confidence so it took me a long time before I was confident enough to take my test. I have a white fiat 500, which is manual, and love it! I got it before I started learning to drive so that I could practice on my own with my parents and that really helped me. It took me about 6 months before I really got used to driving on my own and got my confidence up. I'm now 19 and have been driving nearly 2 years, I drive back and forth from uni in Colchester, about an hour and a half drive on the worse roads ever, the M1, M25 and A12. Since driving to uni and back my confidence has grown even more and especially for my motorway driving, I was so nervous at first but now it's like second nature.

I love having a manual car, I think it makes the driving experience much more authentic! I really love driving though, so I don't think I will ever buy an automatic car, you can't control your car as much. It was a great video ☺️

I started driving when i was 17, and failed 2 of my driving tests so i stopped for a while, when i re started i was 18 and finally managed to pass after a few months and even though i was SO nervous and was almost crying before my test its the best thing i've ever done and im so glad i managed to get there! my confidence was awful at first and i couldn't park either, so i can relate to you in that sense haha!, i also wouldn't drive anywhere in the car on my own for the first few months but now im 20 and been driving two years in August and i will literally drive anywhere, it's so good having that independence. still cant park very well though :( hahah, im in love with your car and i hope your driving confidence gets better! I’m 17 and I’m currently learning to drive, I’ve had 21 hours so far. I’m finding it okay, I get really nervous and I feel sick all the time for every single lesson but when I actually get in the car I feel fine. I’ve taken my theory test once but I failed the first time, I passed the questions but failed hazard perception like you. So I’ve rebooked and that’s in two weeks time and I’m feeling a little bit more confident this time. Fingers crossed when I’ve passed my theory I can take my practical! I’m also insured on my mum’s Mini and I really love it. I learn to drive in a Hyundai and I like it but definitely prefer the Mini so I have my fingers crossed I can buy a Mini when I pass!

I've always been thankful that my parents pushed me to learn earlier rather than later. I was the same way at 16 and could've cared less about driving. It's hard to believe that now at almost 22 I've been on the road for over 6 full years! The strangest thing about watching this video was seeing the drivers side be on the right haha I can imagine that would require some adjustment if I were to try and drive in the UK!

Congrats on getting your license! I never wanted to drive but finally did it at 29. Yes, 29. I paid for private lessons which really helped and passed my test with a score of 95 out of 100. If I can do it anyone can. And I love your car. So cute.

I learned how to drive at 19, didn't have any interest in driving at all, and finally seek for a driving license just now when i'm 23 😂 I can relate everything you said. I also live in a city where it's actually impractical to drive and public transports are the best choice. The only reason I'm taking a driving lesson is because i'm starting a family and there is no way I'm smart enough to manoeuvre Strolers, diaper bag, handbag, etc in one go 😂 (like most super moms out there) when I just want to get a coffee. I thought I was the weird one. Thank you for sharing your experience I'm less stressed for my practical driving test now ♥️ 😂

Oh my goodness Freddy! You have no idea how much getting my license was stressing me out because I'm 20. But at the time, you made me feel a little better because we both had the same reasons for not learning how to drive at an earlier age. I have my license now though (phew!). Hey Freddy loved the video! I would highly recommend always keeping a pen and paper in the car (in case of accidents or something when you need to take dow numbers and information etc.) and also a first aid kit!
