Tried MR for the first time today and by now 6 hours underway. Goosebumps all over. It takes me back to all the nice moments in life and then there is this insanely good subtle smell that comes and goes.This perfume is pristine beauty to me.

Your videos have become a warm cozy blanket for me already. In my personal experience, a few ladies in my life that I share my fragrance love with are much more sensitive to musk than my male friends. More often than not, the musk is the very first thing to hit the ladies noses during sampling, for better or worse. I wonder if that is a theme you have encountered, or possibly, that note is just very loud to my female friends beginner noses.
@SeldomlyOftenАй бұрын
@@Tranquilize779 thanks for the comment! I can really say how the muskiness is perceived as I don’t really share frags with people who are knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. I guess that since it’s more common in women’s perfume, it might be easier to pick up.
@alexceraudo9383Ай бұрын
You ate absolutely right, Daniel: comparing two similar fragrances is a very useful exercise; thank you! I should sample sooner or later some Zoologist. Musk Ravageur to me is a conforting scent (no animalic at all) yet at the same time is also very intriguing. I do not get all that lavender after the opening but it may be that I did not give it a lot of attention. Somehow the feeling of wearing Musk Ravageur for me is similar to Dans Te Bras and I would like to have them both in my collection. If I may suggest, for a more "animalistic" take on musk,, try Musc Tonkin by parfume d'Empire (very weareable) and especially Salomè by Papillon: that is musk! cheers.

I tried Portrait of a Lady, Promise, The Night, and Musc Ravageur at Neiman in Dallas. They were all great. The problem is I can’t remember Musc Ravageur specifically. Zoologist seems like an interesting house. I want to try something from them but I am hesitant that they could be too odd or artistic.
@SeldomlyOftenАй бұрын
I get it, Musk Ravageur, if tried like that, can come off as a little plain. You really have to give it a full wear with a sample. Zoologist is a house that I love BUT I actually wish more scents were odd and artistic, most of them are very wearable and friendly. It can be an overwhelming house to get into but I really recommend trying some out. I got some samples that I'll be testing on video soon :)

Frederic Malle has been owned by Estee Lauder for over 10 years now, it’s just that Frederic himself recently left the company. I wouldn’t anticipate any further reformulations unless new restrictions require it.

@@cheapimitation2242 I hope that is the case! I wonder how much say Frederic Malle had over the formulations though.

I wouldn't put it past the Lauder company to cheapen the formula to increase profit. Especially with the departure of Malle.
@Whitewind19Ай бұрын
Concerning Musc Ravageur It is important to understand which bottle you have a sample from: before or after the reformulation? Issues before reformulation correspond to the name: musk "dirty", animalic.. New formula sounds very smooth. Delicate, cosy cinnamon-amber perfume. Indistinguishable in the base, but the initial notes are like two different scent.
@SeldomlyOftenАй бұрын
@@Whitewind19 I’m pretty sure it’s one of the latest, the sample is from a retailer. The scent matches the later formulas.

A very good review and comparison. As you usually do. If anyone wants to test a truly animalic musk, I recommend Pana Dora Grand Musk. It is a refined beast. Probably the best fragrance of the PD house. But it's for connoisseurs.

It is considerably more animalistic than MR. I suspect Al Zoabi uses real animal musk, not synthetic. But that musk subsides after about two hours and the scent becomes much more approachable. However, there are many who will not appreciate it.
