Portrait of a Lady is my favourite perfume ever, I've used it on summer holidays (extremely hot weather) and it was more rosy (dark rose) and fresh, when I use it during the cold weather it gets sweet, warm and very spicy. I've never had a perfume changing so much. Tonka imperiale has been my new obsession beautiful comforting scent

I love both fragrances and intend to buy both. I also like Angelique Noire and Spiriteuse Double Vanille but find that the Guerlains don't last very long. To me, those three Guerlains smell kind of similar to each other after 20 minutes but I still want all of them. I have been told they are changing the packaging and bottles for those, which is unfortunate. Have you tried the Iris Torrife or the Rose Barbare from that line? I tried the Cuir Beluga but it was too sweet in my opinion. I'm curious to know your thoughts Greta.

I agree, they definitely don’t last long. The Guerlain Arts of Material are all skin scents. They aren’t my favorites. POAL is the polar opposite and a favorite!

Portrait of a lady is very expensive smelling. I love it but I am usually wearing casual and comfortable clothes so I don’t get to wear it often. And you’re right, you can’t wear this during summer. And if anyone is thinking it’s a signature scent, they’re wrong.

💯 % I don’t wear mine much either. It’s very rich and powerful! Perhaps if I lived somewhere cold I would wear it more.

I tried Spirituese Double Vanille and I got major feminine old lady vibes from the florals in it. I don’t get how anyone calls it unisex personally. Is Tonka Imperial more masculine smelling than SDV?

I can’t wait to try portrait of a lady ... fragrance connoisseur have called it a masterpiece I’m just not sure if I would like the rose in it

It’s so stunning! You would think there is Oud in it, by the depth and richness. But it’s actually not a note on it. It just somehow gets that effect. You will love it! It really is like a jammy rose Oud fragrance. Simply stunning!! (Just not in sweltering heat 😂☀️)

Dearest Greta, Today for the first time I am wearing my POAL, …wow….it is strong and full of characters. It is beautiful indeed. At the beginning I couldn’t detect the rosé scent, I could smell it in the mid and the drydown. I really love the drydown of POAL. Thank you for your review, Greta

You need this one! It’s a classic. I’m waiting for Oud Bouquet, but I suspect they may be similar. It’s possible you already have very similar frags in your vast collection.

I had the same experience as you when I sampled Portrait of a Lady in the summer; I just couldn’t deal with it. When I wore it again in the winter it was absolutely sublime! I love Portrait of a Lady! Tfs

POAL it's stunning but I don't find it's as powerful or long lasting as it used to be.

Did you notice the same issues with performance in Sprituese Double Vanille as you did with Tonka ? Because when i got Angelique Noire i thought THAT was soft then when I got SDV I could barely smell it , even after 8-10 sprays, mine is a brand new bottle like only 9 months old , I was thinking maybe it needed to macerate. I found a vintage bottle of Tonka that I was looking at from 2013 which I believe is pre reformulation, I was thinking of pulling the trigger just to see if it actually lasts. Needless to say I would hate to be dissapointed TWICE from this guerlain line .

The Guerlain Art of Materials entire line sits closer to your skin. If you have been wearing winter beasts every day, it will be even harder for you to pick it up. Try not wearing a fragrance for 2-3 days to give your nose a break. Then try again. They are lighter and not as long lasting for sure. That’s why I don’t own that many.

Portrait of the lady is magic and Tonka imparial the only down side it does not last when I finished my first bottle I order two as backup with double vanilla and angelique noire and French kiss I can't wait to get gourmand something I can't remember the spelling 😂

They are both wonderful! POAL stole the stage in this side by side, though. Once it warms up more, that will reverse.
