I just ❤ your videos! What I find most helpful is seeing the different fabric combinations. Fell in love (and purchased) several kits for patterns I didn't particularly like, until I saw the different fabric.

I'm glad to see and hear your explanations of your website & your 3-yard quilt system with patterns and/or books. I was befuddled the first time I visited the Fabric Cafe site.....left without finding much of anything. Since then I've visited and purchased several times. Anyway, thanks. 😊👍💕

Beautiful kits today! I wish I could purchase all of them for quilt ministry. Love 💕 your patterns. I had recently emailed your customer service regarding patterns I couldn’t find in a book. Now I know they are not in a book and will look for them separately. 😃

Just pictured one of your patterns and you say to use a 1/4” seam. Do you use a scant quarter inch or just a quarter inch? Thank you.
@FabricCafe
@FabricCafe Жыл бұрын
Hi Barbara! We use a regular 1/4" seam for all of our piecing. There are two exceptions; when making half square triangles we sew the diagonal seam with a scant 1/4" and when we sew the binding to the quilt we use a scant 1/4". We always state in the pattern when to use a scant 1/4".
@barbaracorry3619
@barbaracorry3619 Жыл бұрын
@@FabricCafe thank you so much. I just keep hearing to use a scant and it really confuses me!
@FabricCafe
@FabricCafe Жыл бұрын
A scant quarter inch is about one stitch skinnier than a regular 1/4". The purpose of a scant quarter inch is to allow for the extra bulk created in some situation, like half square triangles and applying the binding to our quilts.

Great to see some never before seen quilts Donna. What about putting all those individual patterns that you showed into a book?

On the "My Pattern Collection", some of the patterns are shaded. What does the shading represent? (Examples: Boxes & Bows, and Candy Stripe)
@FabricCafe
@FabricCafe 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Judy! Great question. The shaded patterns indicate that the pattern is not available in any book. They are stand alone patterns. Donna

💛💛💛 Do the 3 yards quilts include the binding?
@FabricCafe

yes, I use a single fold binding and the fabric is included. If you prefer a double fold binding, you will need to add 1/2 yard. Donna

Ya know, I am starting my quilting journey with 2 of your quilting books. But what I'm frustrated with is that you offer nothing in terms of tutorials for brand new quilters. I have a very basic and beginner knowledge of sewing and while I've already cut up my first pieces for one of your quilts, I am terrified to start sewing them together. I am such a visual learner so not being able to find walk through tutorials makes the idea of being successful on my first 3 yard quilt (which I thought would be easy enough), extremely intimidating. I'm sorry if I seem whiney. That's not my intention. I just wanted to learn from you but all I see are videos geared toward marketing your books. Your patterns will sell regardless but for newbies like me, who learn visually, I would be so extremely grateful if you offered video tutorials. Some of the instructions are confusing to me. :'( I hope this isn't taken wrong. I totally don't mean to insult anyone because I absolutely love all that I have seen so far from your channel and books. I just tend to do lots of research beforehand and I'd rather learn from someone whose "art" that I really like. Going to try to start sewing my pieces together on Sunday. Praying I don't waste fabric like I thought I did when I was cutting all of the bits. So so sorry so long.

Hello Heather, Thank you for your feedback. We are working toward more tutorial content. Originally, when Covid 19 shut everything down, we created our KZbin Channel to mimic a quilt show you could attend. I would show the quilts and the fabric available at our "booth". We are continuing with this format, but slowly adding more tutorial-type content to our channel. I hope your sew-day went well and that you found the instructions easy to follow. Donna

@@FabricCafe Thank you so much Ms Donna for your reply. I can absolutely appreciate the effects of Covid on everything. I can't wait to see tutorial videos from you based on your 3 yard quilts. You could even offer a code or something for those of us who buy books, or digital patterns, that would allow us access to a video tutorial for whatever quilt we want to try in your books. Also, my mom was telling me that she saw a 3 yard baby quilt book from your collection? I haven't been able to find one. If there is such a thing, would you mind sharing me a link to where I can purchase it?

@@CarolinaGirlCreationZ I always feel that a baby quilt is a baby quilt depending on the fabric you choose to use. These patterns were selected because of the smaller sizes and the fabrics I chose to use. If you have specifics you are looking for let me know. You can visit our website, www.fabriccafe.com and look at all the designs and see the sizes of the quilts by clicking on each book. Donna

These really aren't "patterns" . They are half square triangles with a border . Twisting them in different ways you can get a myriad of layouts. Tsk tsk ....it isn't a pattern which you would need more than this ... it is a layout .

Hi Cathy! Thanks for the feedback. Many people enjoy our 3-yard quilt patterns for the ease and quickness in which they go together. They are commonly used as donation quilts to charities, or make great gifts. Beginners like them because they are easy to understand and a great place to start, experienced quilters like them because they are a simple alternative to more complicated patterns. Thanks for watching!
