I'd like to thank whoever chose to say that having stylistic music is important to the endless games. It lets artists make stuff like this and this would be the 3ed musician the series has introduced me to.

Me too! I'm a huge fan - so much that I drove 3 hours to see her in concert in Charlotte, NC. She is perfect even live and singing basically with only her Husband while he plays guitar. That's the sign of a great singer when one can do that with little vocal enhancement. Beautiful voice. She was really sweet when I met her. :)

I almost thought this song was sung by Ashley Barrett, both Lynn and her just have that really soothing voice. Glad to be introduced to this, thank you Endless Dungeon.

Lyric: Are you dreaming Or are you living Been walking the same dead ends Dying the same death again and again Prisoner of isolation Fingers clawing, bleeding true An endless fever haunting you Some day we'll be free again Some day we'll be free again Faceless people Eyes in the shadows Been fighting the natural will Living the kill again and again Soldiers of a provocation Careless drones to loving you Fear and loathing stalking you Some day we'll be free again Some day we'll be free again Somе day we'll be free again We'll lеave the beast to drown in sin And fight in vain that brutal war within Prisoner of isolation Some day we'll be free again Some day we'll be free again Some day we'll be free again We'll leave the beast to drown in sin And fight in vain that brutal war within

Yessssss!! Such a good song. Absolutely resonates with the current global situation as well (unsure if intentional or not, but seems to refer to her other song Isolation). Thank you all involved :) (Also looking forward to the game itself.)

That's crazy, the opening verse is clearly tailored to the roguelike gameplay, but the rest of the song is borderline biblical. However there are 3 VERY different interpretations: 1. The song, and by extension the game, is about being a freewill actor that decides to leave a place that's doomed and you can only help yourself. "to lеave the beast for it to drown in its sins" - the key line describing essentially finding courage to leave Sodom and Gomorrah behind and never look back. Very simple and fits well. 2. The song, and by extension the game, is about escaping an authoritarian prison-like environment to be free. Free enough to commit sins on your own accord. After all, freedom is when you can choose do to good things or to do evil things, and in prison-like environments you don't even have that choice since you only do what's told and thread the line. A story about oppression and finding a way out to be free enough to even have a capacity to sin. The #2 is quite complicated to comprehend and I do believe the #1 is the 'canon' here because it's just too archetypical of a story. But this line bothers me: "And fight in vain that brutal war within" Why is it in vain? Is this some next level implication that no matter from where you escape and where you end up, your human nature will eventually transform your new environment into another instantiation of a beast? Whether that's #1 or #2 is irrelevant. 3. We will be working our own way up from a prison the entire playthrough - but we were actually locked up for a good reason. that's for coming to my tedtalk, like, subscribe and smash that bell button lmao

If I had to ascribe something to whole "in vain" thing, it's that the war is 'in vain' because it doesn't end, or that 'leaving the beast' is in itself not a victory. For the first, the war is in vain because fighting to change never stops. You are always changing, and the change is not linear. You can't *win* the war to be a different person because there is no winning. Merely getting to a place you are comfortable with and saying "good enough, for now" and then hoping you can move forward from there in a positive direction. For the second, the 'Beast' isn't defeated or vanquished. You are leaving it to 'drown in sin' and hopefully moving on. But what *made* the Beast, to use your own thoughts, isn't resolved. The Beast is still there, you are still the same person. You just ran away, and either the Beast will follow you, or you'll just repeat the same actions that made the Beast the first time.

I wish the chorus weren’t so long. I sadly grow tired of the line “someday we’ll be free again”. It would be really cool if the lyrics themselves changed at the end, and then the very last line was someday we’ll be free again.
