"Yatta" (やった), as in the Japanese dub, is a Japanese exclamation that means “I did it!”, “I made it!”, “Yay”, or “Hooray”. It is used to express joy and excitement about a usually hard-earned victory or accomplishment. In Akira's case, it's kind of "Yay!!"/"Hooray!!" one yeah? I know localization is a thing, and I agree that "I'm free" is a safer option to pick. But there's always something about hype-escalating about trendy things like "LET'S GO!!!" as you mentioned, since it feels closer to the time and generation that we live (The phrase itself as a hype, it's far away from dated for what I've seen). As long as the phrase is living strong among the current audience, it's likely gonna create more hype feeling when they catch that moment. But then again, it's just my opinion, ok? "I'm free" still kind of work, and this anime is still FIRE!! Me rn: ☝🤓
