This bus service is very convenient. I used it several times. I have an Epic Pass so I get 5 free days at Rusutsu. Therefore, together with the free bus, it's a completely free skiing at Rusutsu for me - plus food of course. I always stayed in Sapporo when I went on ski trips in Hokkaido so that I could travel to different resorts from the central location. So far I've tried Rusutsu, Niseko, Sapporo Kokusai, Sapporo Tenie, Kiroro, Tomanu, Furano, and Kamui Ski Links.

Regarding lifts/gondola closing at 3:30, I can see how it would be a problem being stuck at East/ Mt. Isola side. Can I assume that it wouldn't be a problem on the West side? Also, would you advise to come to the West side, well before 3:30 to avoid the East traffic coming back over to the resort? Thx for posting!!

Ahoy James! If it's crowded I start at 3pm going down from the top of Mt Isola. If it's less busy i start at 3:30pm for the same route. I timed myself today on a less busy day and in calm speed it took me: 15 minutes From Mt. Isola > East no. 2 Pair > Top of East Mt. 6 minutes From top East Mt. > East no. 1 gondola. Cheers

@@captainikigai Thx so much!! We will be there in two weeks...hope the snow will wait😅

The bus leaves Rusutsu Convention Center at 17:00 so if you can get on the gondola by 16:15 you will have plenty of time to walk back to the bus and relax while waiting in the queue for the bus. I once took the gondola back at 16:30 and still had time. Edit: I've just realised you've already been there. How did it go?

@@DosAussieThai Thx for ur reply! We actually ended going to Hoshino Tomamu instead, taking advantage of a last minute discount😅 We made reservations to go Rusutsu coming March ‘25. Just curious, what happens if the gondola,coming back to the West/ Rusutsu Hotel, stops running(after3:30?) ? How do skiers get back?
@captainikigai4 ай бұрын
Ahoy @jmswng77, Tomamu is a lot of fun! It has some fantastic backcountry areas, and I highly recommend checking out the ice village while you're there. I visited last season and had a great time, although I wasn’t too fond of the hotel’s cafeteria-style restaurant. That said, the après-ski scene is excellent! Just a heads-up-the gondola runs until the end of the day, but if you're heading to Rusutsu Resort, be mindful of the time as you might miss the bus. Although it’s never happened to me, there are local buses available, though they can be quite expensive. Hope you have an amazing trip!

Hi, may I ask if Rusutsu is suitable for beginners who have not skied before? Thank you.
@captainikigai6 ай бұрын
Rusutsu also has beginner slopes and excellent ski and snowboard instructors. If you are staying in the area, you might consider purchasing a 25-hour pass instead of day passes, as beginners often tire quickly. Cheers
