Great Video of your travels in Colorado. I can't wait to try that stream & sand scrub down like Dave. It makes sense as sand does filter everything out. Love your videos & makes us all feel we are traveling with you. Keep doing what you're doing.

How did you all know there was water there? It looked so inconspicuous, I don't know that I would have even known that was the water fill up station. ha ha. I would have just looked around confused, if I would have even known there was water to be had. LOL So glad you all showed this...note to self!

You are correct! We would not have known either if our friends hadn't told us about it. I will say that we have learned that it really pays off to stop at visitor centers. They know all the good details about the area and some even have wifi. In this case this visitor center also had water and trash.

Well done video!! What a beautiful area and your photography is stunning as usual. It was fun watching Dave catch the fish. I am sure he is enjoying that. The waterfalls were beautiful! Wish we were there with you. It is so terribly hot and smoky in MT. One of the worst fire seasons I have ever seen. Just praying the fires don't reach our property on the river. Hope you can stay away from the extreme heat and smoke. Happy travels!!

@oneadVANtureatatime
@oneadVANtureatatime 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, for Silverton take the 550 (million dollar highway) about a mile or two out of town. Then you will take a left on the 585. The 585 is a gravel road. The first two miles have free dispersed camping all the way up to where they have closed the road. Goldenhorn campground is at the end near the road closure. It is also free. Carrie list the coordinates for all of our camp spots in the video description if that works better for you. Also if you are familiar with the app Ioverlander it will also list this camping area with some reviews. I hope that helps. If not let me know and I will try to be more helpful. 😀

Okay explain to me how scrubbing your self with muddy sand and rinsing off in the creek make you clean!? LOL

It really works! Cleans all the dead skin off and opens up your pours. 😎 You might try it at least once and see what you think. 😀

I was wondering why Dave, a Navy man, was around all these lakes, streams, creeks and rivers, had never went fishing. Fresh fish is always a plus for the road diet. And it's free...(once you pay for the license)but consider that an investment into saving at the grocery store. Safe travels, Dave, Carrie and Roodles!

Absolutely Sam! I would have been fishing more but we can't afford a license in every state. This is quite a treat for me. 😎

So, if you were traveling alone, without your friends, don’t you lose your camp spot if you go somewhere? I don’t want to hunt for a spot everyday. Dave, you’re in Colorado, you gotta try fly fishing!

Usually you can set up a small cheap (willing to lose it cheap) tent that holds your spot.

Exactly as An Alternate Perspective said. If we really love a spot and want to come back.... we put up our tent to save that spot. The key is..... DO NOT put up a tent or leave anything behind that you would be sad to loose. Just in case it gets stolen. We suggest buying a very inexpensive tent from walmart or amazon just for this reason.

@@oneadVANtureatatime and Alternat Perspective, thanks. I had thought about doing just that. Maybe I’ll put some duct tape on the tent for good measure! But what I love about my van is the lack of set up. I don’t relish the idea of having to put up a tent again. I gave that up long ago.

Leave the fish in the water! You can kill them. Don't bring them out of water for quick release.
