FREE Camping Between Yellowstone and Grand Tetons National Park
This video was shot between Grassy Lake Road Camping and Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. Two miles north from our campsite is the south entrance of Yellowstone National Park and five miles south is Grand Teton National Park.
In the Grassy Lake Road Camping area are several dispersed places. Each place for dispersed camping is called a Camp. We can't remember how many camps are in the Grassy Lake Road Camping. We do remember that camp 1 had four spots, camp 2 had 2 sites, camp 3 had 2 sites, and it went from there. We were in camp 3.
Each of the camps has a vault toilet and trash. In each camp, each site has a picnic table, a bear box, a fire ring. These are free, first come campsites. The area is run either by the National Park Service or the National Forest Service.
This is not the only dispersed camping in the area, but it is the one where we stayed. The sites fill rather early in the morning, so you might want to get here early.

Hi ladies! My wife and met you a couple of years ago on the Rim of the Rio Grande north of Taos. Glad to see you made it north. We headed that way soon.

Hey, I know exactly where you're talking about, In 2023, we went on a mission trip to Madison, Wisconsin. While we were that close, we visited 3 of the Great Lakes. We're getting used to the north in the summer.

We were very pleased with the camping. We didn't stay in many places that charged anything for camping.

I’m gonna be real honest. That area is super creepy. We drive thru there last year at the end of August and there were people obviously living there and claiming spots that were for 2 campers or more. It didn’t seem safe to us so we moved on down the highway.

Ladies, thank you for your timely videos and your timeless witness. We are passing through TX in early April, coming from Alamogordo, NM. Can you recommend a couple of TX state parks to visit as we head east, back to NC? We're open to whatever route that let's us "see" TX. Thanks.

Possibly our favorite state park is Caprock Canyons. We love having the bison roaming free. The cows won't calve until May, but even without seeing the calves the bison are wonderful. From there, you angle south to either Meridian or Lake Whitney State Park and miss Dallas. In far east Texas we love Mission Tejas and Huntsville State Parks. Mission Tejas is a small state park with only 15 sites, and Huntsville is one where you may see an alligator. By the way, we have videos about all of those parks.

Hope you enjoy our state parks. We've got some great ones. Also, if you are spending a week or more in Texas State Parks, you might consider a park pass. It waives the entrance fee which is anywhere between $3 and $8 per day and if you stay two nights in the same campsite, the second night is half off. The pass is $70 a year.

Very nice video ladies, two questions one is there a camping area like 1, 2,3 or 4 or 5 on and on that you would recommend that is one of the most beautiful? Secondly what is a bear box? Thank you & safe travels

We love camping area 3. The view of Grand Teton was beautiful. The road is gravel, but it smooths out a bit after camping area 1. Everyone wants to stop at one. We don't recommend that one because from what we heard often more than four groups of campers stop there, making it really crowded. If you are doing tent camping, you will need that bear box. It is where you put your food so the scent doesn't attract bears. We asked people who live in bear areas, and they told us not to throw scraps out, and not to keep pet food out. You want nothing that will attract the bears.
