Port-security works on both access ports and trunk ports. But you have to configure manually the port as a trunk or an access port, rather than let the switch dynamically decide whether to use trunking.

It's like I knew I needed some labs. I completely forget most of the commands from the tuition I learnt from some instructor somewhere(let's not name any names!). Thank you Jeremy for making this accessible. You work is appreciated.

This has been amazingly helpful as I am starting from an absolute zero knowledge base of Cisoc routers and switches. And so, I appreciate how you have gone step by step. At the beginning of each video you say, "see if you can do this on your own first..." My question is, where can I learn how to do it on my own first? Do you have lectures the coordinate with the topic of each lab? I've been going through your free CCNA labs but I feel like I am missing something. Thankfully because you do go step by step I am able to figure a lot out but sometimes like in this video new stuff is presented and I wonder where I can get some info on it before doing the lab. Thanks again!!

Glad to hear you like the videos! I intended these labs to be supplemental, something to be used in addition to a regular CCNA course, a way to practice what you've already learned. I made a video about how I studied for my CCNA, and talk about the course I recommend. Check it out! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGi7Y516g8apkK8&lc=UgxbrCvnAB3UbSeuveR4AaABAg

What about 7th point? Am I missing something? Shouldn't you statically configure the MAC addresses?
@lachlanmeng34475 ай бұрын
He doesn't seem to cover it in this video. If you are following along with this video, when you ping from PC1 to PC2 after configuring port security (at 9 minutes and 5 seconds into the video) the MAC address of PC1 is added to the Secure MAC Address Table and is marked as the CurrentAddr in the port security table. As a result of this, when you try to complete step 7 to manually configure the MAC address of PC1 for SW1 F0/2 using "SW1 (config-if)#switchport port-security mac-address 0002.16e2.2193" it errors stating duplicate mac-address. I tried using the "clear port-security" command from privileged exec mode however it doesn't clear it. I don't know if this is a Packet Tracer limitation or if I used the wrong command. To Manually configure the MAC addresses you have two options: 1) Set the MAC address Sticky option "SW1 (config-if)#switchport port-security mac-address Sticky". This will set the dynamically learned MAC address as a secure MAC address. 2) Start the lab again and don't ping from PC1 to PC2 during step 6 (at 9m5s in the video). Then you can successfully use "SW1 (config-if)#switchport port-security mac-address 0002.16e2.2193" Shoutout to Jeremy. These labs are great :)
