Hi Imran... Without the passive interface, ospf won't work at all, am I right? And it always has to be the device present at the end of your network, right?

Hi Imran. Looking at the /24 subnet mask for all the networks in the physical topology and in the ospf configuration, looking at the wildcard mask 0.0.255.255 as well as network addresses 10.1.0.0 give me an impression that the subnet mask should have been displayed as 16 in stead of 24 in the topology on all networks (you are showing them as /24, not /16). Please correct me if I m wrong. It is not making sense to me. If subnet mask is /24 how can the wildcard mask be 0.0.255.255?
@TheRohel
@TheRohel 3 жыл бұрын
Imran, don't worry. I think, I have got it now. although all the networks have subnet mask of /24, when you are configuring the router for ospf and putting its network information, you are summarizing the networks and taking whole 3rd and 4th octets and using 10.1.0.0 as their summarized (supernetting) network address. Therefore, the wildcard mask does not remain 0.0.0.255 rather changing to 0.0.255.255.

Thank you Mr imarn for all your big efforts. I've just tried to do the commands on the ROUTER 2 : network 10.1.0.0 0.0.127.255 area 0 and the commande network 10.1.0.0 0.0.255.255 area 45 together and when I do show ip ospf interface I have duplicated networks in the areas, it means for instance : 10.1.12.2 is on area 0 and area 45 ! I HAVE A MISMATCH AREA ID ! Can you give me some explainations please ? Thank you very much Mr Imran :)

Hello, everything worked well untill I went to configure router 5 here. The minute I put "network 10.1.0.0 0.0.255.255 area 12" I got an error - Received invalid packet: mismatch area ID, from backbone area must be virtual-link but not found from 10.1.45.5 Any ideas? Thank you

pls can anyone help me when he put router ospf 1 and the network 10.1.26.2 0.0.0.0 can i put another number if the 4th octet like .1 or .3 regarding what imran say that it compare the first 3 octet or it cant work
@zBerzerkerx
@zBerzerkerx 4 жыл бұрын
10.1.26.2 is the interface ip address. 0.0.0.0 means that it will only use that specific address. he's using that address to signify that area 45 is on that router. So no, you can't put any number on that last octet other than the interface address.
@bishalofficial6230
@bishalofficial6230 4 жыл бұрын
@@zBerzerkerx instead of giving a network address we can five interface IP addresses and put interface on each area respectively. For instance, On Router 4 we can configure following command and still it will work (config)# router ospf 1 (config-router)# network 10.1.234.4 0.0.0.0 area 0 (config-router)# network 10.1.45.4 0.0.0.0 area 12 I don't know why but instead of giving the network address we can give interface IP address. And even for R5 we can summarise the both address and (config-router)# network 10.1.32.0 0.0.31.255 area 12 In case this command doesn't work, try #clear ip ospf process And for sure this will work

The process of downloading your resource is way too tedious, not sure why we have to go through checkout just to download a free resource and give away too much personal details for something that is free, i think you guys should separate that free stuff from your checkout system..good job on the lecture delivery though.
