My kids and I were taking an evening walk in our small town. I smelled this harsh plastic burning and commented how anyone could be so stupid to burn plastic in town. My daughter laughed and said 'Mom--that's ----" and named a type of drug. I asked her how she knew this. She told me because many of her friends do that drug. This was 2011. She was 11 at the time. My son was 5. That autumn I moved my kids to the country and we started farming. No more drugs.

As a recovered heroin addict I'm telling you, that I got clean because I was done with being "sick & tired" and I am again, so sick & tired of all of this "safe supply" BS! I'm sick with the number of people I've known or knew becoming statistics and I'm tired of these government heads pretending that they know how to fix it. There's one thing that goes unnoticed in my opinion, nobody asks the addicts! It's always a bunch of suits or names with letters behind it deciding what is best. I can guarantee you that if you talk to those on the ground the majority will tell you that none of it works and they would trade it all in if instead when they found those moments of courage to reach out for help, it was available. Right now we have 1 detox centre (8 beds), 1 overpriced rehab (at least $10k out of pocket), and a few outpatient places and thousands of addicts! If it's about the people, talk to the people...

Man, dilli's were a secret in my group. Only a few of us had them. I got mine from a longboard accident. "Ive got houses!" Is what we'd say. I had 3 friends out of a massive crowd that knew what it meant. Opioid addicts. When i took them, i described it as "my body was taken apart bit by bit, polished, buffed, and put back together." It was incredible. I wasnt an addict, and i managed to keep mine for about 5 years, taking it when i needed. I look back and realize i was eing given some of the more addictive drugs by doctors. Me, showing the "true power" of my autism ASKED my doctor if i could possibly get another prescription after mine ran out. They suddenly had suspiciouns about me, but i explained the situation and why i was looking for it, and they told me : "you sound like a drug addict. Stop". Let me tell yah, thats a wake up call. Like some "requiem for a dream" type reality check
