Heads up Funky be careful storing logs round your stove. 2 house fires in my area in recent years. Stove surface temps can get very high and enough to start a log smouldering then ignite. Store logs in a basket in same room away from stove they will dry out quick.

I have the same model of log splitter, and it's worth it's weight. It makes splitting so much easier. With some really dry wood, the pieces can really fly apart too, pinging across the yard!

It’s fun to see your excitement! I guess that I’d consider all those things toys. I heat my home in the US with wood only. I’ve been using a chainsaw for 30 years, I have 3 chainsaws. I cut my firewood 16 inches long. I use the tractor or atv with a trailer or utv to haul the rounds out of my woods to the wood yard to split with my hydraulic 24 ton log splitter. Then I put all the wood into the firewood barn 12 feet wide and 24 feet long and 10 feet tall with doors on both ends. It has ventilation everywhere. The wood sits on pallets. I begin using firewood in October. The last 2 weeks of March and the first two weeks of April I cut, split and stack firewood until the barn is full to the top! I only burn a little bit of firewood in April and May, but the barn full of wood is enough firewood to last for two full winters. That’s why I never need to test moisture. The wood usually sits for 18 months before it gets burned! If I get hurt, I still have firewood ready for two more years!

We are talking hobby preppers here , I am in north scotland, I get 25 tons of long lengths delivered every 3 years, most is part dry, I cross cut a years supply every spring, and stack in ricks to air dry over summer, split and stack in the wood sheds for another year in the fall. Our big woodstove puts out room heat and is waterjacketed to heat water for radiators all around the house and on tap hot water. Only need a little electric to run the circulating pump. In summer we can burn wood for a couple of hours per day to keep the hot water cylinder hot, but we have electric element also if needed. No gas supply here. Have another 2 woodstoves, one in the lounge and the other in my machine shop, those both have cooking tops. I am more than prepped. First snow blowing in tonight, falling fast. No big deal. Tidies up the yard!

I love splitting with axes, I have a big selection. Cold steel make a lovely affordable quality forest axe. Forest axes are not ideal for splitting but will work. Get a proper splitter, especially if the power goes out. My grandfather always said you'll get warm twice, once splitting and once burning.

hi from llandovery got one very similar to that and it is very underrated , there is a air bleeder screw at the front which you must loosen before using or you can blow a seal . and it works much better without that pice of wood stuck on the forward blade had mine 6 years and still going strong

Funky look into the Hyundai 20 inch petrol chainsaw,I’m a Gardner and cut quite a few trees and this chainsaw would go threw them big logs you have with no probs ,they cost about £150 with 3 yr warranty,or look at pipe chainsaw same chainsaw basically under a different name (still made by Hyundai or Hyundai engine ) going for roughly £100,and in 2021 I brought a 4lb 860mm log splitting ace for £14 and it cuts through the biggest logs you had stored ,I’ve just checked they are £21 now on eBay

I suffer from cold hands also, always have aswel. I wear grib grab primerva 2 merino wool gloves, and they fit a dream, I buy M/L size 9-10 and they fit excellent, work with the phone screens, and you still have manual dexterity whilst wearing them. They are heavyweight merino gloves and good for temperatures from 0c to 15 c. I use them as liners when its colder. I have a pair of Highlander kevlar gloves. Dexterity is important if your doing anything with your hands with tools as loose gloves can get caught in machinery etc. They do a cheaper pair that are listed as liners but they don't have the rubberised grips on the palm. I'm really into gloves because it's hard to find a pair that fit really well on all digits, sometimes the fingers fit perfectly but the thumbs are too long and roll over etc. My highlander gloves are size small, fingers fit perfectly the thumbs roll over a tad. I highly recommend Highlander clothes. Nice tent funky 👍

I've already got a long-handled maul that I fitted a steel handle to (35mm pipe) several years ago so I'm ok for that size. I bought a Fiskars X21 earlier this year for use a s a medium size. I think they are listed as an L (large) size by Fiskars, the X25 being XL and the X27 being XXL. To me it's just a medium size, a nice addition between the long maul and a hand axe or kindling splitter. Gosh it's marvellous for plenty of smaller rounds that you don't actually need a full-blooded swing for and it will split larger stuff that's knot-free at a pinch. I like it particularly as I can swing it with one arm for those smaller rounds, but it's just long enough to get two hands on for some stuff. They are a good product for sure.

had one of those splitters for a while, that big silver collor next to the warning label should have a thumscrew in it so you can set how far back the wedge gose, to save time on shorter logs. just watch out with hardwoods as the wedge can twist those two thin bars on tuff wood. great tool though 👌

Dont let people stand beside machine as the logs can sometines explode apart, it hurts getting hit by them. Try to get freshly felled wood, as it's easier to split, seasoned logs, especially hardwood, with knots, won't always split. I have 5 ton machine that got beaten by some 6 year old logs. Next machine will be a 8 ton splitting capacity.

Toy wood and a toy splitter, you could have just said it was an advert in the first place. All the buzz words for getting more sponsors and free stuff to review. But fair play, go for it. I use 10 tons of wood every year, no other heating fuels. And am 69 yrs old, cut split and stack it a year ahead after storing in long lengths covered for a year minimum. Cross cut discs 18 inches thick..A good splitting maul is faster, but the odd one needs a splitter. Hope you get affiliates sending you stuff to demo. Got to eat eh?

They were around £200 in 2019 and even summer 2020 until the prices began to rise for all things because of you-know-what. You won't get one now, even these small splitters for less than £350 minimum and more likely £400. I wish I had bought one in 2019 after having seen my mate's machine - that he got for £150, being a window-display model in a Machine-Mart shop.

I wouldn't run your 2200 watt log splitter on a 2000 watts power station for too long. Your power station is rated at 2000 watt max for a RESISTIVE loads. The electric motor on the log splitter may be rated at 2200 watt but that's INDUCTIVE load. There is a difference. The induction motor on the splitter will probably use 3000 watt on start up and then drop to 2200 after a few seconds. That could be enough to screw up your power station's inverter over time. Read the instruction book for the power station carefully and check it is suitable for INDUCTIVE LOADS... just to be on the safe side.

I tried in in my over after cook, about 6 in a jar seems to have worked well no extra energy needed.
