FREE fix for Dyson/Hoover dead battery pack (Works!) 10 minutes saves $$$$$

I have a cordless stick vacuum and the battery was not charging so instead of spending over $60 for a replacement, I decided to fix it myself for free and tell you guys how to do it too! works on Dyson vacuums Hoover react vacuums and many more, even some laptops!

How did you get the battery open to find the bad cell? What too did you use. I unscrewed the one screw, but the V7 battery crevice is so slim, it won't budge.

Dude those hoover vacuums have a major advantage with those batteries so easy to take apart..with the dysons its a totally different story..

I tried this on a dead OnePWR 4.0 with those lights, but it didn't work. I used a benchtop power supply and charged all cells to 3.8V, but those lights still flash. Seems like a problem with the actual board instead.

Same experience here trying this method on a OnePwr 4.0 battery. Cells all have even charge now but same error lights flashing and charger won’t recharge the unit.

I had same issue with my battery. After using this method I was able to fix it but after using once when I tried to charge battery again I got same issue again it’s look like when cell is bad it won’t work again next best solution is to replace cell with new cell

@Zomerzonzible any conductive wire should work. Speaker cable, RCA wires, alligator clips and small metal magnets are probably best.

I tried to fix mine which has OnePwr brand. It’s theoretically easy but it’s not really worth it. The batteries are hard wired to the charging circuit board and trying to cut the batteries out resulted in short circuits and smoke. It’s not really worth the risk at all

i have a hoover multi vacuum item no. bh52230 . my charger is flashing from white to red . it doesn't stay white but it doesn't stay red either . on the top of mine there are buttons shows 25 ,50 , 75 , 100 . showing how much it is charged . and it isn't charged ! 2 buttons on bottom one for rollers second for boost mode all lights are flashing white except the charging one flashing red and white in the center of the other lights . does this mean some of my batteries are still good since it is not a solid red . thanks for the video

Those batteries are connected together so you're not going to read a single cell voltage like that. Also connecting a single cell to boost will have little to no effect as it will be far lower voltage than the cell you are trying to boost because they are in series....

Not true, I'm getting very different readings on the individual cells. Also the process has worked for me this way on multiple occasions so 🤷

This _might_ work by taking advantage of the lower voltage cell having a lower internal resistance, and given electricity always wants to find the path of least resistance, it might just work. I have a failed OnePWR 4 Amp pack here which I'll give this a shot on later.

Word of advice: don't try with a lower voltage cell than the recipient cell, I managed to damage either the BMS or the buck boost converter in an AA 1.5 V Li-Ion cell (3.7 V native, converted to 1.5 V by an integral BMS). No harm done to the pack (and no improvement) - my path of least resistance comment is borne out by the fact that 3.7 V will definitely want to push into a 1.5 V cell ;-) it was a fun experiment to try. Now to go snip the joins so I can charge it in isolation then resolder them!

And by the way, your method of taking the shell apart is unecessarry. As another commentor points out, these batteries are wired in series. So your reading is inaccurate. Just use the + and - terminals on the battery pack and jump it to another DC voltage battery for a few minutes using alligator clips. It will achieve the same result and save you time and effort. Just note, the batteries will likely completely fail at some point.

Makes you wonder how it even happened in the first place, the cause of unbalanced cell is charging circuit bad or cell is weak and has a lower capacity than the rest..
