After a few falls (the last one in the tub) I have learned to slow down even more. It's so important to be very aware of every step, to make sure my feet are going where I want them to go. I use a cane when away from home but not usually at home.

I don't talk about my MS to strangers or very little with my family but my first years with MS I fell forward backward sideways legs just bend and down I go but my legs and arms have some nasty scares. My balance I have to work on a lot I do the excerises it helps but losing your balance is no fun my bones in my left leg are very thin emergency room doctor told me one more big fall again and you are going to brake a bone. When I get down I can't get up on my own. I always need help. When I get into bed I use my body not my legs same as when I get in and out of a car I swing my body into the seat. I taught myself that one. I took a medication for awhile side effects we're not fun so I had to stop. I got scared of that kind of medication for MS. I have read all the videos they all hit home but I have never had double vision or blurred vision thank goodness since 2002 dope I haven't had that one. My memory stays stable but I do get emotional with anixty I hate it now for a long time that is stable. One doctor in one of the videos stated no such thing as being stable with MS you are always going to have a symptom pop up. I am doing just fine I make decisions at home and away from home .. I don't like to be in a situation I am not familiar with when it comes to a site traveling on a road that has been changed that upsets me and scares me but being crippled is frighting in those kind of situation .... God bless you all and keep the good work up with your MS you will make it that's s promise. Be brave and hold your head high.

My most recent fall, happened from getting up from a couch and spasticity settled in and my leg got num and I did not feel my leg at all hit the ground and I fell onto my right side. My right ankle required X-rays as it got swollen. I had hit my shoulder as well and the entire situation, required pt for a while. The sensation on my right was very dull and as it came back, months later the pain returned, still dealing with it, this ms thing is ever so strange!!!

I fell off a pool float. At the time it didn't occur to me that it was this but the pool wasn't very big and I didn't have far to fall. It was very much a depth perception issue. Lol pun not intended but very water worthy.

@@lisaborsch8933 Just learning how foot drop is a major problem for people with this disease. And you are right, the depth perception problem is so real... We have to be more careful, because most people, even with ms won't understand it. You take of yourself!

I use a cane and a walker plus the 2 sets of braces on both legs. I have a problem with my walking when I come to a sidewalk can not get up upon on it . Need help to hold on to a person or a pole to get up on that hight amt of thick cement. But driving with my braces no problem I don't have to lift my legs very high so thank goodness to that. The strength lifting a leg is too high is weak. No stairs for me can't climb them have to hold on tight to tail to climb down take a deep breath when I see stairs I just say oh boy But if it is not very high I'm fine to left my legs. Especially my left one.

Hi Al in the NMSS. We know what is happening and what can happen, we need a cure for it, because the help and support doesn't help when you can't walk, or it will keep happing all the time. A cure for the different symptoms MS cause's may help as well, the old drugs don't work.

I almost always fa backwards. Fractured humerus that required surgery recently, split my head open a little while ago. I have not been diagnosed yet. I keep thinking I'm making this up. But the injuries are very severe. Just lost my job.

Just like my last job. The moment they learned I got handicap card to park near, they laid me off. Employers are not open-minded to handicap employees at all.

I use a cane when walking outside - today I nearly tripped on the pavement but I had my cane and was able to stay upright. It’s no shame to hold a cane, better than tripping over!

I got a rollator thinking it would help + I could sit when I needed to rest. Well that was a horrible idea... Like you said, it felt weird for me to use crutches at first but after awhile, I didn't care anymore...When using my feet too much, they hurt so going with wheelchair if the walk were long to save myself from pain and bruises 😊
