hey man i love what you do man!!, on guitar rig 6 you can enter full demo mode just left click on the 3 dots on the top of the sim and go to file then preferences, then click on libary and go down and click on activate demo mode and you can use every amp and effect that the paid version has for about 30 mins...and when times up just do it all over again.... i didnt know if you knew this lil hack, so you didnt have to use just one amp in guitar rig 6.. take care JON

Hi Ania. Thanks for watching. No problem at all. It happens sometimes in Ableton (and any other DAW for sure ;) It is probably because the paths configured in Ableton don't show the VST or you simply need to rescan plugins. Following along on a Mac with Logic Pro 10.7.9, but not hearing Guitar Rig kick in. I was hearing my guitar on a track with Gtr Rig 6 enabled as an Audio FX plug-in in the Channel Strip, but only hearing the clean sound. Note I NOT recording at the time. Here's what i had going in the tracks header: the track's Record Enable on (Red R buttonI) and Input Monitoring on (Orange I button), but still I could only hear the clean sound when playing, no-Gtr-Rig-6 sound. I had to turn on Software Monitoring to finally hear Guitar Rig 6's effect on the sound. I am now good.

Hi John. Thanks for that, I'll point people to your comment if someone asks me how to turn it on in Logic as I have no clue 🤣🤷‍♂️. Hope that Software Monitoring doesn't affect the latency in any way. Also when I think about it, it does make some sense as it is in fact a software plugin so you want the Daw to run the sound through a software FX and be able to monitor it = hear it. 🤘😎

@@Busiless I'm not sure its the best way to do, to be honest, not an expert. Another thing I had to do, because my computer is a 2015 iMac (old) is change the Audio Settings' I/O Buffer Size from 64 to 256 - otherwise I was getting crackling and cutting out from guitar rig. To come to this conclusion I used two Guitar Rig 6 presets you use in the video, Alternative Crunch and Vintage Slapback. Note an I/O Buffer Size of 128 wasn't good enough on my configuration, but 256 was.

@JohnnyHands aah 64 won't work unless you have a monster of a CPU and sound interface. Normally for Guitar rig 256 is good enough even on newer computers. Mine 2020 M1 Mac won't work with 64 samples 🤣. I have 128 default while playing with synths and switching to 256 when needed

Ha yes. Well the Mustang will probably not work perfect as a interface. 🧐 You can try to play with monitoring of the track 1 and set it to IN (if you're on Ableton). Just an idea. I have the Mustang 1 but haven't tried to plug it in as an audio device. Just payed on my old PC changing presets. Good luck with it 🤘😎

Hi Kiroshi, thanks for watching. Hard to tell what's going wrong. Luckily I didn't experience that. From the basic stuff I can think of is to make sure there isn't any mess with folders and best folders as I know that for example on Windows it can get quite problematic. Try to fully restart system, try again and if that didn't work, try contacting their helpdesk. Let me know what's the progress! That's a good thing to know if more users are experiencing problems. I just downloaded the demo for this... Clean sounds are great, anything high gain sounds BAD. Im using a focusrite scarlet solo 3rd gen to macbook, running in logic pro. Any suggestions?

Hi. That's similar setup I have. What I'd check is to run a standalone app, not a VST and check if the problem persists. Second thing could be the gain set too high (you don't want the ring flashing orange), third thing could be the analogue side of things like cable quality, some noise from pickups, strings not grounded. That will usually not be noticeable on clean guitar but any gain in the signal will show these problems. But if you have some other plugins that DO sound good with high gain setups on your guitar, then it will clearly be a problem with GR6. What I have seen in my GR6 and GR7 inside Ableton is that some volume and gain (and some tone) knobs are put to silent. So I can't hear the sound at all in some presets, but the Standalone app works great. I tried to reach the support but they don't provide help for free products. I have this problem in my other video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6bQYp-neKqihNk Let me know if you find out something while you investigate a bit more :)

@Busiless Ive tried using it standalone as well. My input gain is well balanced away from clipping. Im starting to believe that this is just not a good program. The rammfire plugin is horrible, sounds absolutely nothing like rammsteins guitar tone.. Same as all other non clean tones.

Well I get it now. I personally have mixed opinions about it. For my setup it usually sounds ok, The interface though is a bit complicated. I personally use Bias FX2 but I don't record too much guitar recently, Anyway, for me sounds quite nice. Also if you're a fan of heavy gain, i heard there's nothing better than STL Tones. They have a free trial but the whole platform is subscription based unfortunately.

Hi. So you mean the noise from the guitar on high gain effects? Well there's many things to check. First things first is the cable good quality, are the strings properly grounded in the guitar, and are you using humbucker pickups with a heavy distortion effects. If the signal has even a bit noise, you will get it super amplified if you send it through a distortion. If you have a strat type guitar, with only single coil pickups, set the switch in 2nd or 4th position (using 2 pickups at the same time) to diminish the noise a bit. With humbuckers shouldn't be much problem. There's so many things to check, you can search on youtube for some more solutions to this problem with other guitar guys :)

Hi. Sure try something simple, gr7 should be able to produce relatively nice bass tones. I do personally use either an Ampeg replica I got for free years ago, don’t remember now what it is but I’ll check tomorrow and let you know. Thanx for good videos ! I use a Harley Benton mp-500 with USB interface. And the FXsounds ARE good. But whenever I activate High Gain, a high freq noise becomes VERY loud. Tried Ground Loop suggestions, but doesent solve. Any suggestions ? Best Jan

Hi Jan. Ok so I'll tell you what comes to my mind and you'll investigate 😁 any noise will be amplified a lot for sure so... Single coil pickups will hum, poor quality cable or plugs. Any strong electromagnetic field will induce noise (power bricks, adapters, old CRT TV's 🤪) Not grounded strings(should be ok from factory unless you modified your guitar). Guitar Cable can go near some power cable. Also there can be some issue with powering interface if it has a separate power cable other than the USB. These would usually produce rather low humming noise 50-60hz but when distorted can sound like it has a higher pitch. Other than that could be faulty interface. Maybe there's an option to add a noise gate or noise reducer as a first effect in your computer? Let me know 🤘😎

Hi. What kind of USB cable is it? I used to have a cable that has a USB plug on one side and Guitar jack on the other, It was from a playstation game "Rocksmith". I then needed to find some drivers to it. As far as I remember it used Yamaha Steinberg drivers, but you need to google it up. But if you have the cable right, drivers right then it is all in settings. You have to choose the right input in the Guitar Rig plugin, or your DAW. Hi Emil - That should be easy. As I understand, You want to use one plugin like a piano plugin on one track and send it through Guitar Rig 6 for the effects? Option 1. Simply Load a VST with your midi instrument (piano, synth, whatever) and then drop a GR6 on the same track. Option 2. Load a VST with a piano(or other) plugin on one track. Load GR6 on a second track. Then change the piano track output from "Master" to your GR6 track, and Switch the monitoring of the GR6 track to "IN" while having the piano track armed for recording. You will then be recording midi notes only and listening through GR6. When happy you can resample it later. VERSION 2 ;) If you have a piano or keyboard with an audio output, just plug it in your USB Interface like you would plug in a guitar, and just adjust the input sensitivity. Hope that makes sense. There's probably something with the path to vst files in your system. Plugin installed in one place but the DAW uses different folder. Look for it basing on your system and Daw or just check the paths in the installer and point the Daw to the same place 🤘😎

You will basically need to download a Native Access app to your computer and there in three all once installed you can choose to install guitar rig 6 player. Let me know

Hi Terry, thanks for watching. If you're on Ableton check the basic stuff first make sure you have armed the right track, have monitoring set to auto and you have the guitar rig on the same audio track. If everything is ok, then add a delay or any audio effect on the same track and see if that changes the sound and if the sound of your guitar is even going through. Let me know, so we can investigate further!

Hi yes. the guitar won’t be automatically detected by your laptop. You will need to have a USB interface to connect it. You can check this video here to learn more about this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZKxmIiEbtCdptk new ones will cost around €60 - €100 but a used one should be much cheaper.

Hi, thanks for this tutorial. I have a problem: when I try to record the guitar with the effects with the Postdeck function, I hear the effects in the headphones but when I save the track on the PC and open it, I only hear the clean guitar. I don't understand...I have a Focusrite Scarlett, I don't know if it's a driver problem or something else. I also tried recording to a DAW but nothing changes. Thanks a lot for the answer

Hi Angelo. What I think is happening is that the signal from the guitar is always recorded clean, the effect is added live in program or DAW. So the sample if you'll find it on your computer will be clean, what you should do is to record you're guitar in DAW, apply effects and export the song to WAV. That will render the effect and create a file with three effect applied. Of course, to change it later you need to change the effect on a clean sample and export again. Hope that's what you're looking for, if not, let me know 🤘😎

Hi. If you're using it on Ableton, check your audio settings and change buffer size to 128 or 256 samples. That should help, but it will make the CPU work harder

Hi. Sorry for late reply ;) So in general, I'm using a USB interface (Focusrite Scarlett Solo in my case - you can find a link in the description). Then just standard drivers and Guitar Rig can be launched without any other software but I use Ableton Live as my "Recording Studio" (DAW)

Hi Dilroy. You can first go to Ableton settings and try to rescan plugins, and also make sure it is installed in the same folder as any other VST3. Then it should be in ableton in "VST3 - Native Instruments - Guitar Rig 6" If you're on Mac you can access it through Audio Units as well. If you're on windows there is sometimes a lot of confusion with these folders, Try to reinstall it or change VST3 folder in Native Access app if there is such an option (right top corner - person icon and preferences) All the best🤘😎

Hi Agostino. I have opened it normally without the Ableton and it has its own Audio settings. When you click on the GUITAR RIG name - choose file and preferences - Audio. If you have a usb interface it should be there to choose under "Device" and if you're on Windows, you might want also to check the "driver" if it's something you recognise ;). If you don't see your USB interface there then there might me something messed up with the drivers. Hope you'll get to it. Let me know ;) all the best🤘😎

Hey mate. I have the same issue. Im trying to use that on my Mac book m1 but the software doesn't recognize the input for my interrace. It does recognize the interfaces (im using both the H4N pro recorder and and old maudio interface) and neither of them can recognise any imput. So I can't play with my guitar. Do you know this issue?

Hi. Hard to tell. If the input is seen by the DAW it should be seen there too. In the standalone Guitar rig 6 go to File/Preferences/Audio tab. Driver has to be Core Audio but that can't be changed and the device of your choice. If not there, try in the Daw as I mentioned, also restart app, system, do updates, the usual boring troubleshooting 🤷‍♂️ if still nothing then only email the support of both NI and the interface manufacturer. Hi. Hard to tell because I haven't tried this hardware yet. The only thing that comes to my mind is to try ASIO4ALL drivers on your PC. That usually does solve some problems but can't tell if it will work. Good luck 🤘😎

Hi Ableton unfortunately isn’t free. Sometimes it comes bundled with a MIDI keyboard or USB interface. Guitar rig 6 and 7 player version is free though 🤘😎

How do i export my audio with all of its effects WITHIN guitar rig 6?

Hi Widas. So if you have your dry guitar track recorded, you're processing it through a Guitar Rig 6 then you can just simply export the whole project (if you have only a guitar there - or mute the other tracks and then export) the effects will then be exported as well. But if you want to let's say "apply" effects, then you can record the output from the Guitar Rig 6's track to a new audio track. It's called Resampling (or sometimes Bouncing?). Then you can mute the Guitar Rig 6 track and use only the one with recorded effects. Hi. Try to look for where is the vst file installed and then try to find the same folder inside your DAW settings. But ideally reinstall the plugin and make sure you are installing your vst and VST3 Dolores in the same folder with your other plugins. It gets messy sometimes, I know. The guitar has a 6.3mm Jack socket and the interface has a 6.3mm Jack input so you would need to use 2 connectors (6.3mm to 3.5mm) on each end. Also the guitar cables (the thick ones) have better screen so will induce less interference so less noise. Tiny aux cables would sound sh**t. Let me know if you have any more questions bro. Hi D Landsberg, thanks for watching. You would also need a USB interface that stands between your guitar and your Mac. It's a device you plug in through USB and it has a guitar (and microphone) input. Then you'll see another source of sound in the settings. Hi. You have to open it through plugins menu inside Ableton, not as a separate program. And if you can't see it there, possibly the vst file was installed in a different folder than what Ableton sees as a plugin folder. Check that and let me know if there's a different folder 🤘😎

Hi Mia. You can use the Guitar Rig on it's own even without the DAW. But if you want there is a Garage Band for Mac (but you'll have to use the "au" version of a plugin instead of VST - works the same), For windows and Mac there are some like LMMS, Waveform Free, Cakewalk (win only) But Ableton has a 3 month free trial as well as far as I remember and the Intro version is around $79. Also if you buy a Midi Keyboard like Arturia, you get the Ableton Intro for free. Also people do sell licences to live intro cheaper on some adverts websites. :) all the best!

Hi. I guess what you mean is that I use the Guitar Rig through Ableton? I just load a "Guitar Rig" VST plugin on an audio channel inside Ableton. That's inside a plugin section in the browser on the left. Let me know if that's what you're looking for.

@@williamlancaster786 aah ok. Well you can buy it from Ableton's website, but quite often when you buy some gear like midi keyboard, you get a free licence for a simpler version. Also you can ask on some musician Facebook groups if someone has a spare licence code (for the Ableton Intro or Lite) that he might not need. Because more often they could have a higher version but still buy gear with free licence attached. All the best 🤘😎

Hi. It should be in Plugins > VST3 >Native Instruments. If you don't have this it is probably due to the installation path. Open Native access and check the VST plugin installation paths if they match what's in your DAW settings for the VST folders. Also of course assuming that the guitar rig has installed properly. It will also be available from the desktop as a standalone application. Hi Mark, thanks for watching. Yes you can use it with bass easily. Not all of the effects will sound best with bass but it will work for sure as well. I think it has some dedicated bass preamp, but I'll test it out sometime in the nearby future 🙂. You can test it out as it's free. Also there is the IkMultimedia Amplitube that has some bass presets. If you can afford the full version/ find it somewhere on the internet. "Definitely not" through a certain subreddits mega thread about the act of wearing an eye patch and drinking rum on the high seas. There's two quite good bass amps. I'm a guitar player mainly so I wouldn't appreciate it like you would but every time I write a song, I throw my epi thunderbird through the bass invader amp and can get some good tones. You could probably tweak the marshal clone they have to sound good on the free one but will take a lot more work.

Thanks, an in the matter of affordability, yes these plugins aren't cheap but I usually try to hunt something down on sales like black Friday / cyber monday. there is only a demo version. Effects and amplifiers are not working. They are working just when you have put it on first time but when you are trying to change into another sound the guitar turned out into clean and no effect are working. Useless version dude :(

Hi Juan. Thanks for watching. Did you install Guitar rig 6 PRO or PLAYER? The pro version indeed has a demo so few things might not work properly, but the PLAYER version is free. It has in fact only one amp named "Jump" it also has matched cabinet. There are some effects there that are working fine. (Only one distortion, 2 delay, one reverb, chorus/flanger and few more) Yes it is quite limited but still, working good for free.
