Hi! This tutorial and preset seems really great! However, if your camera is parented to a NULL object for better control, the preset no longer works. Is there perhaps any easy way around this? Some quick change to the code to work around the parenting? Thanks either way. Really great stuff.

Good question. If you can edit the expression, that would probably be best. On the "Amount to Tint" property, try changing this line: cam=thisComp.activeCamera.transform.position[2]; to this: cam=thisComp.activeCamera.toWorld([0,0,0])[2]; The way I have it set up is to tint a layer based on its distance from the camera on the Z axis only. If it measures the actual distance, it can create problems in certain kinds of 3D scenes. I think that expression will do the trick. Just apply it to one layer, then copy the Tint effect from that layer to the others.

thank you for the video and the script. I have followed your steps to install it. but only the control layer appear on the effects panel.

Hi. If you apply the presets as shown in the video, then the Control Layer is the only layer that has controls that appear in the Effect Controls panel. The other layers just get a Tint effect. Is something different happening for you?

@@creationeffects Hi, thank you for the answer. I can't find the "Haze(3D Layer)". under the effects and presets tab only the "Haze(Control Layer)" is available. I followed the same steps that you have showed you in the video to install it. I'm using after effects 2020 version.

@@lllrexerlll First, I would verify that both .ffx files (from the zip file) are in your Presets folder. Then in After Effects, try clicking the little button that looks like three lines, next to where it says "Effects & Presets" at the top of the panel. Then click "Refresh List".

@@creationeffects Thanks, but It didn't work either. I'll try to update the after effects version. I think that will solve the issue :]
@creationeffects Жыл бұрын
@@lllrexerlll Yeah, that's worth a try. Also, I know there are two locations that presets can go, so maybe put the file in both. And the only other thing I can think of is to re-download the zip file. Sometimes files can get corrupted during the download process.

A mac is not a personal computer? (PC)

Technically yes, but if you're an old fart like me, PC only refers to a computer running WIndows: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6O5XpeYebKGZ5osi=6Jn9HzUcMSG0SuYA

I have successfully installed the haze preset in the after effects folder. But when I try to locate it in the effects/presets panel, Haze (3D layer) does not appear, I only get "Haze (control layer)" any idea why this happens to me?, I have after effects 2022
@creationeffects Жыл бұрын
Make sure you put it in the Presets folder for the correct version of After Effects. And make sure it's the .ffx file, not the .zip file. Also, you may need to restart After Effects before it appears.

Sorry, I read your post too fast and didn't see that one of the presets is showing up and one isn't. If restarting After Effects doesn't help, I suppose I'd recommend re-downloading it. And maybe try a different version of AE to see if that works.

the haze 3d layer does not work on my Ae 2022
@creationeffects Жыл бұрын
Hi. Make sure you have applied the preset "Haze (Control Layer)" to a null object, and name that layer "Haze Control Layer". Then make sure that you select all of your 3D layers, and double-click the preset "Haze (3D Layer)".
@vanesieg7097 Жыл бұрын
Yes, but only the haze control layer appears in the presets, the 3d haze layer does not appear in the presets, nor in Ae 2020 :(@@creationeffects

You're completely right. I'm sorry about that and thanks for bringing it to my attention. I have updated the presets, and they should work now in AE 2020 and all later versions. You can redownload, and if you have any problems, please let me know. @@vanesieg7097
