Personalmente me cuesta trabajo disfrutar el Free Jazz; sin embargo, no por eso diré que es "basura", pues puedo entender por qué a otras personas les gusta y eso está bien

Musicalmente sí es basura. Podremos darle el significado que queramos y decir que para nosotros representa tal cosa. Pero no por eso es bueno Es una expresión más personal que musical. Es como pintar un cuadro sin técnica a puro brochazo por aquí y por allá o cantar como joko ono

Yo creo que es ahí donde yace el problema, pues decir que algo no es “musicalmente bueno” es predisponernos a pensar que existe tal cosa como una definición absoluta y universal de lo que es la música. Claro que siempre puedes juzgar alguna pieza musical basándote en ciertos criterios específicos como los que son la noción tradicional de armonía, melodía y ritmo, pero hacer tal cosa sería rebajar la complejidad del arte a burdos términos que no van más allá de lo que son. Es como si quisieras intentar juzgar una pintura basándote nada más en los colores o la pintura usada. Y claro, no podemos decir que algo es universalmente bueno simplemente por lo que representa para nosotros; sin embargo, sigue siendo bueno ante nuestros ojos, ¿y qué es el arte si no aquello que simboliza para cada uno? A fin de cuentas, el arte sin gente que lo presencie no pasa de ser simple materia y energía.
