FREE Midi Light Automation With ChamSys MagicQ! - #AscensionTechTuesday - EP114
This week, Chad shows you how you can use free programs to automate ChamSys MagicQ by using MIDI from your favorite DAW or iPad app.
We're using Logic Pro X in this video but this will also work using the Multitracks.com Playback app on an iPad or any other DAW or app that can send MIDI notes over a network.

I would add to set to "No"the "Keypad always Select heads" option in the "Keypad-encoder" setup tab. ( Otherwise it selects the heads and not the cues) :D

Probably not gonna happen anytime soon since it took so very long to make the resources for Bome. If you have a mac, you can use the new version of Bome. It costs $70 but it’s probably worth it just to not have to do all the work with Osculator haha! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Thank you for this video. I've used Bome's "Pro" Midi translator for years to solve various problems. Great piece of software, but sadly even the pro version does not have a way to target a specific window for keystroke commands (at least that I can find). It can however, execute a file - which could be a script that talks to MagicQ (assuming someone had the skills to write such a script....I don't). And yes, it would be nice if ChamSys offered an affordable path to Midi Control. Spending thousands on a console isn't an option for many of us.

It should work with Osculator.

We use one Mac for ProPresenter, and another for MagicQ. Is this simple to set up?

To go Mac to Mac, you won’t need to download Bonjour, RTPMidi, or Bome’s. You will need OSCulator for MagicQ. You shouldn’t need any extra software for ProPresenter as far as I’m currently aware.

@@AWTechTuesday we thankfully have ProPresenter synced to receive MIDI from an iPad. Seems like MagicQ should be getting the cues, unless it has to be out of demo mode

Hi, first of all, sorry for my bad english spoken ! I have a Chamsys Magic Dmx full Dongle and a PC. Does it possible to Trigger Chamsys MagicQ cues with a musical keyboard (midi) without having to buy the MagicQ Rack Mount Dongle USB ? How to do that ? Thanks a lot

Ok i use this Bome Midi Translator with two audio-interfaces and midi connections. I have my music macbook with ableton and one audio interface and midi cable going out to midi in of another interface connected to my pc with chamsys. In Bomes Midi Translator i just put my interface as a device to receive midi in and it's working very well but after 10 changes of scene it doesn't work anymore:< It's going from 1 to 10 then it's not working anymore to scene 11, 12 etc. i can go back to 3, 4 or whatever number before 10 but i can't go more than 10 scenes :< do you know maybe why?? i tried almost everything, changing outgoing actions in bome midi translator etc.

Did you download the free presets from the video? I use them all the time with no issues.

Great but chamsys I'm sure are not happy when they see this... Please encourage chamsys and even though this is great, it does seem like a killer for a great team that do amazing work to kill the hog and ma that are doing their best to kill . This sais I am a big time hog user. Now a chamsys user and have one at home , and these guys need support
