I’m glad your enjoyed yourself in my hometown. I love this city. I used to work at Opryland when I was younger. I got to meet all these wonderful people that you were talking about. They were truly treasure’s of our history. They each had hearts of gold. Kids today will never know nor appreciate true musicians like this that carved the pathway for others. They were truly LEGENDS and I’m proud we have places to go to honor them.

I met Mr. Tubb in Sep - 1968. He invited me on his bus. I told him he was my second-favorite singer. He asked who #1 was. I told him he probably wasn't old enough to have heard of Jimmie Rodgers. He smiled big and told me Jimmie was his favorite, too. He told me about Mrs. Rodgers helping him get his start.

I lived in Nashville for many years and was very fortunate to play the Opry several times with Dale Ann Bradley. We got to share a dressing room with The Osbourne Brothers. We also got to playy The Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree. What an honor! The place to be on Opry nights was Acuff's dressing room....what a place of honor!

When the park was still open we were getting ready for one of the CMA award shows at the Opry. Me & my friend Linda were working on our task in front of the Grand Ole Opry. Mr Acuff came out and talked to us then said it sure is hot out here. I think I have something that might help you ladies. Ill be right back. He went into his house & came back out about 5 minutes or so later with 2 paper sacks. Inside was a RC Cola and a moonpie! He even offered to sign our sacks. I still have my piece of the sack with his autograph.

Mr. Acuffs life was so interesting and to hear about what he had done for country music was really special. To see the home they built for him says so much about him. Loved seeing the bus too. Such a piece of history. The artists, the music, the dedication to their craft is something to admire & cherish. Thanks Jordan for reminding us about the free things to stop & see.

We can confirm the Roy Acuff house is under renovation for a new experience, but we're not quite ready to unwrap it just yet. Come back in a few weeks! (Also, the house was nearly destroyed in the flood of 2010, including almost all of the original furnishings and features. The house was extensively remediated after the flood and has served as offices with a small museum space for special Opry exhibits since then, until its current renovation, which will give it a new, permanent use.)

Hey Jordan first time to comment. Long time subscriber and I love you videos. I need to correct you on something. You said the Grand Ole Opry had Saturday night performances. The Grand Ole Opry also has Sunday night shows. They were gospel. I performed there in June of 1974. I met Roy Acuff.

I have been in that store. The lady that run it also dresses the country stars (some of them) At Acuff's house, it was closed when we got there too but a man came out and was talking with us. I mentioned Gram Parsons and he said there is a picture of Gram right inside the door . I really wanted to see if that was true

I grew up close to where Roy Acuff lived in Inglewood before the house was built at Opryland for him. I remember seeing him outside the Inglewood Pharmacy as I was walking home from school…I was 10-12 years old at the time. I got to talk with him for a few minutes before we parted ways. I still live very close by. Since you mentioned Stringbean and Grandpa…I drive past their houses going to/from work in Greenbrier. If you are coming from Greenbrier/Ridgetop, Grandpa’s house is just inside the county line on the right. Drive slowly and look at the driveway in your right…you won’t be disappointed. Grandpa is buried a short distance away off that highway. Let me know if you want me to show you these sites.
