You have recreated a beautiful yard! Not just the cleanup, but the time you took to do detailed work. Few people do that. To me, that shows you care about the client, your business and yourself. A lot of us have issues. Many cannot survive under pressure. I have lost many close friends. I deal with my demons daily. You encourage many by your work. Thank you! Be Safe!

This is my first video and you did an awesome job. Mental health can not be seen like a physical injury so you never know if someone is suffering or if they are, how much they’re suffering. So give someone a smile, a nod or just say hello, it doesn’t cost you a thing but to them it could be everything. You could have be the only person to knowledge their existence that day or even that week. My husband of 38 years committed suicide 5 months ago, my only solace is, he’s no longer frightened, confused and now has peace to rest his soul. With mental illness your mind (the thing that controls everything) becomes your enemy and works against you. Deep down in your heart you know but your mind tells you something else and everyone suffers differently. I was watching these types of videos before my husband passed so I guess now I’m waiting for time to pass, I know it will. Thank you for helping me do that. And here is my smile 😊 to make your day 😉

You've done a great job and I agree that mowing is a great boost to mental health. A few years ago I was at my lowest point and, while talking to my GP (doctor) and not wanting to be on tablets, she mentioned that there was a Men’s Shed starting up and that's when I started getting myself out of the depression I'd fallen into. Luckily, the Shed had a large garden area which, at the time, was very, very overgrown and needed a huge amount of work just to walk across it. I took to doing the gardening like a duck to water which has not only been a huge - and welcome! - surprise but it's also made a huge difference to my confidence, self esteem and mental health. My friends have noticed a change for the better, although the best thing is that my mother has noticed it too, which has made both of us very pleased. I still do a lot of the gardening at the Men’s Shed, although I now have a plot of my own, something I never thought would ever happen! I can't recommend getting out into the garden highly enough (if you have one obviously!) or having some house plants. It's better than taking tablets! I think that you're doing a great thing and having a great impact, for the good, on the people you're helping. Well done and thanks for sharing your videos. Frank from Scotland 👍👍👍👏👏👏👏🏴🏴🏴

It gets a little harder every year for I will be turning 75 this summer. Sometimes I have to give myself a pep talk now and then but I manage to continue on. You yet again have done just a marvelous job for someone who needs help, so congratulations! One tip, as told to me by a lady with a spectacular garden, water the hole before you put the plant in. Fill it to the top with water and let it drain, then pop the plant in and give it a quick water on the top. If the water doesn't drain then you've got a good places to put a water loving plant but not one that needs drainage. The plant won't even know it has moved. Your notes about mental health are right on point. Everyone seems to be struggling these days and we can't always see that. You are just the best!

Oh it's so pretty now! Fantastic job, and bringing in those plants that you saved (I remember that video) was really a wonderful gesture. For my mental health, when I'm stressed being outside in the sun helps, but when the weather is bad (as it frequently is here in Oregon) I do a lot of knitting and crochet, and quilting. I'm hand quilting a quilt, which I find very soothing.

I have struggled with depression from the age of four, now 65. Exercise and sunshine are important components of my wellness plan. When there is not enough sun (winter especially) I use full spectrum light bulbs (also sold as "sunshine" light bulbs) all over my house to help my mood. I don't even put shades on the lamps, to maximize the benefits. My house glows from all the lights in winter, but it helps keep the depression away. I have also found the more I can minimize my contact with people with narcissistic personalities, the better I feel. The benefit of this is probably two-fold. One, they are difficult people for all to handle, but secondly, my mom was and so it is a trigger for my C-PTSD from her neglect/ abuse. I also use cognitive therapy techniques to minimize the automatic negative thoughts that can be so destructive. Nature is important too. I have loved digging in the dirt since I was a child. My yard now has no grass, is all shrubs, trees, perennial flowers, and bulbs. Avoiding alcohol and drugs has also been very important for my mental health.

That is always my goal. Since I was finally diagnosed at age 19, I have spent my lifetime trying to educate people about Recovery with a mental illness, and advocating for better services, such as peer support and trauma informed care, for us. We learn from each other, what can help some people, what doesn't help, and we help each other be strong. Having a wellness plan is also a very good way to manage life with an ongoing condition, where you plan what you need to do on a daily basis to stay well (and weekly and monthly), what your triggers are and a plan to cope, what your early warning signs are and a plan to get back on track, and what your signs that things are really falling apart and a plan for help. It also helps to plan for if you have to be hospitalized (a crisis plan), and assign someone as your medical power of attorney with clear instructions about what you want and what you don't want. Or you can make a document stating what you want and don't want. Anyway, the more we know, the better we can be! I am always here for you if you need more information. @@MowingForMentalHealth

I fight my negative thoughts and depression by being outdoors, walking, hiking and jogging. But mainly walking in nature brings so much peace to my stress self. I also enjoy watching positive videos such this one, it really soothes my head and soul. Thank you and awesome job on this yard. Keep up the amazing work. 😊😊

My number one thing I do is to avoid - news, and social media. Second I watch videos that show people improving our lords Earth. These things help.

Thanks Debra. We must have a lot on common I also avoid the news and social media. I have a Facebook page for my business. It’s called Hunter Valley grass apart from that I don’t do social media 🤟🏻

You know something, you are right, because I have anxiety attacks, and maybe if I did something, it would help me not have so many anxiety attacks because where I live at people can't afford to pay money so I'm going to start mowing yards again and thank you for what you do for your community 👍👍👍

I like the camera placement at minute 29 shooting through the bush. Nice artistic touch. And your captions touched me…thanks.

I live in North Bay, Ontario, Canada and I don't know the names of the plants or trees that grow there. Is it possible to put the names up so that I can learn about them???

I will try to do this more in the future, but I’m not very good with the names of trees and plants. I’ve still got a lot to learn!

You asked about how mental health is affected by watching. It is therapudic both watching and doing. My age and health are slowing me down as I am in my seventies, but I still get a lot of satisfaction from seeing the improvement when I am finished. I get the same enjoyment when I wash or wax my car. Used to enjoy painting houses. Things look fresh, crisp and new. As to watching you and others, I did away with television a year ago. Got tired of paying for what used to be free. Add to that insult, the fact that most programming is designed toward social engineering, and opinion shaping. There is no longer "news", but propaganda. I can watch your unbiased, honest efforts and simply relax and enjoy without concern for some unseen entities trying to screw with my head . I thank you!
