What an incredible way to use scraps! Thank you! I have lots of scraps and keep them in a box until it is full; then I start piecing. If there are larger pieces, I use them for other quilting projects, like for the two tumbler quilts that I have on the back burner. I love the last quilt especially; thank you for the inspiration!

Such a neat technique and it would make such a wonderful quilt for picnics, ball games, outdoor concerts, etc! Beautiful Magic Reversible Clam Shells. I love how you have pieced clam shells and whole cloth clam shells in rows. This pattern would make beautiful, reversible, bedspreads. It is to be noted that we cannot buy summer weight bedspreads around here anymore . Most young people today do not know what a bedspread is. I have never started cutting the Clam Shell Quilt As You Go quilt (but I made my pattern and bought the striped fabric to make the bias tape). The one I have been planning to make (for years now) uses home made bias tape around the raw rounded edges. I believe that bias tape would work very well around the edges of your round circles making the backing circles unnecessary (if you don't want the extra bulk and don't want a reversible quilt). Then press the bias tape under, cut the circles in half, then machine tack them together in rows. After spray gluing the back and batting together, pin the rows on (one row at a time) and sew (alternating each row). I need to make at least three baby quilts for a charity event. I'm going to give this a try on some of them. Scrappy shells will work for both girls and boys (the more bright colors the better). I may end up making smaller circles. Thank you for planting another wonderful idea in my old brain.

Oooooooohhhhhhhh!!!! I liked the first one (cathedral windows), I wasn't too sure about the second one, and I decided to hold out to see the third. Wow! I like the third too!!! I have been re-inspired to finish filling up my coffee filters with scraps! What would I name this one? Hmmmmm since it looks like a clam shell quilt, but isn't, I think I'd call it an Oyster Quilt (this is me cracking myself up while everyone else rolls their eyes). Thanks Brenda!!!!

This is a wonderful and very creative way of making a clamshell quilt! I just might use up my batik scraps and back them with water, beach related fabric scraps and present to a daughter now living in Florida She will appreciate it as she loves all the scrappy items I’ve made in the past. How large did your quilt turn out with the 5 and 6 Rowe’s of 8” coffee filter blocks? Also couldn’t you just finish each circle before putting them together with some fun decorative stitches? Hello Cheryl! I'm so glad that you like this video. This has been such a fun series to work on but every coffee filter may not be the same size. Mine was 7 inch but another lady's was 6.5 inch. My Singer 301A has a straight stitch only but you could have fun with decorative stitches. The Facebook group is using the room feature in the group for impromptu sew dates. How many bubble blocks did you use and how big was the quilt! I totally want to make one. I might try it with the backing made from one solid fabric to see what the difference is to how the bubbles stand out.

Hello Victorian! I'm delighted that you like my video. My bubble blocks were 7 inch across so for the blue blocks, it was 7 rows and 6 blocks across but the black was 9 rows and 5 blocs across. I can't do math this morning but you could make this as long and wide as you what too because it is your quilt. Also not all coffee filters are going to measure out the same size. could i make these bubble blocks using willy nilly fabrics? I have so many scraps and want to use them without worrying about colours! Or would it be too wild and so i should use a 2 or 3 colour to make them? I love this
