Thank you Donna, for this tutorial. Once upon a time I saw this quilt style in someone’s home and was delighted to learn that she made it herself. I paid her $400 to make one for me. I was always very intimidated by quilting. When my daughters were a seven and eight, I enrolled them in a quilting for children’s class. The instructor was gracious enough to allow me to be a student if I helped reinforce her instruction in the work room. I was so grateful to her for this newfound skill. However, I remained intimidated by the Lonestar. Your tutorial, however, remedied this fear, and I am so ready now. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.❤

I love seeing your industrial machine and hearing it stitch. Until 2014, I had a Bernina950 and I loved it but sold it to a woman in Mineral Wells, Texas since she needed one to make horse blankets. I no longer was making the flags for which I bought it, so I didn't really need it. However, I wish I still had it when I see you use yours. Thanks for great videos.

Donna, I'm a new quilter, have just sewn four quilt tops this winter. I'm grateful and proud to be learning from you. Your directions and shortcuts are wonderful! I especially appreciate it when you teach how to repair an error. On this Lone Star tutorial you showed how to fix a seam stitched too deep. As a beginner, these tips are invaluable.Thank you. Greetings and appreciation from Alaska. ps: My quilt is glorious!

My grandmother made a lot of quilts, and when she passed away there were boxes of quilt tops that were never made into quilts. For Christmas I received one of these tops and it was the Lone Star pattern. I'm estimating the quilt top itself is 40 years old. I was going to make small Lonestar blocks to sew together to make my own quilt. But now I am to try your pattern to make a quilt. My grandmother's was 84 in by 84 in just the star. Thank you for the free pattern, it is just the size that I wanted to make.

Thank you so much for this video! My Grandma made a star quilt like this except she did rows like you did in the middle all the same around with each color instead of "scrapy". Was my childhood favorite. She died before I was born so she couldn't teach me how to make it and my Aunt never learned how to sew. It is worn enough I don't want to risk completely destroy it, and I have been looking for quite a few years now to find a tutorial!! Your is amazing! You even answered what I was worried about and that is the Y seam! I am still a beginner so I will have to probably build up to thing but I am so happy to have found this! Thank you!

I am making a quilt for all my grands (5). Also, my two daughters & sister make a total of 8. I have finished only 4, I don’t have a lot of time to sew. My oldest grandson wants the lone star on a black background like yours. I have my fabric, and pattern & I am anxious to start. Thank you for your tutorials, you have taught me so much. I have sown for years, but never quilt-making. You are a great teacher. I made your simplicity quilt pattern for my sister. I am attaching a picture. Grandma Ginnie from Alabama💕

This quilt pattern was what got me interested in quilting and never having made any quilt before I blithely bought fabrics and tried to follow the pattern I had. What a disaster!!! It almost made me quit thinking about quilting. But a friend who I didn't know was a quilter, straightened me out and got me started a basic simple quilt and I have never looked back. But this tutorial has inspired me to try the Lone Star Pattern again and I think with your pattern & tutorial I should be OK. Can't wait to start!! Thank you SO MUCH!!!

Wow Donna how wonderful is this quilt. I love making quilts but i am a novis. I am very reluctant to do free arm swells on a finished quilt. I have always wanted to do a lone star quilt but was afraid of starting one. Your tutorial has given me encouragement to start one to see how I get on. I wish I could pop into your store it would be heaven. We don't have many fabric stores in the UK so I mostly buy my fabrics and jelly rolls on line. But even then it's not like browsing in a store like Jordan fabrics. Many thanks. Anita x

Also have a new grandbaby coming in September and now know what I want to make for a nice crib quilt. So easy compared to the old Texas star I made years ago that has never layed flat in the center. This is fabulous, Donna, thanks for the wonderful tutorial and all the extra tips to ensure we can do it ourselves! I think I'd add about 2" or 3" of the black background to the sides, and maybe between the star and border, just to let that diamond-star centre really shine. You're right, the long-arm quilting really adds texture. Thanks also for including instructions on how to enlarge this quilt. I am definitely adding this one to my "Quilts to Make" list !! Silly I know, this is Jacquie from California ... my daughter and I stopped in around the end of July and you complimented my bright pink nails 💅🏻... your nails look beautiful as well as this show stopper Quilt pattern! Thank you for taking the time to chat and talk college with us, lol 😂

I love this tutorial and have watched it several times, I'm now sewing my strips together to begin making this awesome quilt & I totally agree with Mary Hickey's comments. Thanks Donna & Matt
