I was looking for a video on bezeling a small rivoli and just when I was about to give up, once again the amazing Jill Wiseman popped up with exactly what I was looking for! Thank you Jill. I made mine with green rivolis, red seed beads, gold delicas and I used gold pearls. They are my Christmas earrings.

There can never be too many ways to bezel a Rivoli. Love this one! One small shortcut is to leave about a 5 inch tail and use that to encase the back. It will already be in the right position to start.
@sarajanehaven7 жыл бұрын
Leave a bit more and you can use the tail for the bail also.

Regarding the crystal embellishment:- I use a 15o Czech Charlotte on either side of the crystal to avoid abrasion. The 15o Japanese seed bead can be used as well. This technique also will help to keep the thread from showing through.

Hey, Jill....Cheri M brought up an interesting point. I'm looking forward to seeing a video on the care of the back of the rivolis and fancy stones. Bezeling these takes a lot of time and effort...... it would be a shame if, after all that, the coating wore off. Thanks! 🤠

These earrings are so beautiful just started beading and it looked awesome till I tried the back and my beads started to rip. First it happened at the front (first.or third row, while I tried to pull tension for the part which actually holds the rivoli guess I used to much tension for the beads but not enough for the star to hold the rivoli
@JillWisemanDesigns2 жыл бұрын
Beads started to rip? Do you mean you broke the thread? Then yes, you're using too much tension or your thread isn't strong enough.
@hawkeyejackson74252 жыл бұрын
@@JillWisemanDesigns no unfortunately the beads themselves split apart. Every time I start with the 15/0 at least one or two will break.
@JillWisemanDesigns2 жыл бұрын
@@hawkeyejackson7425 Ok, then the issue is you’ve got too big of a needle for the size 15 beads.

I am imagining yellow and orange colours, so the earrings would look like a sun! Question: how do you deal with breaking a bead when you are tightening the thread while doing peyote stitch? I take everything apart and start again, which is quite frustrating.

I have tried and tried again to bezzle a rivoli, and I cannot do it. I don't know what I do wrong but I am so frustrated, that I guess I just won't try to do anymore rivoli or any kind of stone
@lesliewood97307 жыл бұрын
Here is some encouragement! Not every delica bead called a size 11 is exactly the same size. The same for size 15 beads. So, you may have to adjust your number of beads to make Jill's pattern. It is important that if she calls for an even number of beads that you use an even number of beads also. If it won't work, then try a different color or finish delica bead that is slightly larger or smaller to fit the pattern. Sometimes you will use a different number of beads than she does, but try it anyway!! It is not your fault that it didn't work - there are just many variables and the video time is limited.
@pwe52ut7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input Leslie... I will have to see what other delicas i can find in my stash..

Are the size 15 beads cylinders(delicas) or can they be regular round size 15 beads?
@susanmarielucas26286 жыл бұрын
Hi, Jill! First time on your channel and your instructions are so clear that I'm thinking that this might be my first bead weaving project. [Love your use of technical terms, like "sticky-outee" - lol! 😊 Seriously, it makes it perfectly understandable.] Normally, I avoid Delicas because, to me, they are just *too* uniform but I can see how they would be preferred for bead weaving and loom work. The rivolis that I have are size 14 - should I just go 'round the first row and add enough by eye, being sure to use an even number? Many thanks - Susan [P.S.: I *must* have come to the right place - purple is my favourite colour, too!]

@Psychett037 жыл бұрын
Hi Jill. These earrings are beautiful. Question for you. Do you coat the foil back of the rivoli with diamond glaze or glossy accents? I know a lot of beaders do that to protect the foil back so it doesn't scratch off during wear. TFS!
@JillWisemanDesigns7 жыл бұрын
I never have, but it certainly doesn't hurt. Whether it wears away will have to do with how much you wear it, and how much abrasion the back gets. Because these are earrings, there's unlikely to be much abrasion. But if you use the same technique as a pendant or bracelet or ring, it might be an issue. I'll do a video about that!
@finkgudrun51887 жыл бұрын
I woulld like it - and can you give us the delicas count for other sizes of rivolis - please ?

Indeed! I did mention in the video that I wasn't breaking any dramatic design ground with this one. Classic is classic because it's streamlined beauty to me. :-) I did try to do an image search to see if I could find anything identical online and didn't find any. So it's one of those inevitable design collisions! Yay us for having good taste!
