They may have been a band for longer than 1D, but they never had half the recognition that 1D got in the just five years they were together. So yeah. 1975 may have longevity, but they don't have as much recognition. Which is sad really, because they are a good band. But 1D, there story, rather than going slow and steady, went fast and wild. They took over the world in only a few short years of being formed and then stayed on top until they went on hiatus. And now their solo careers are spiraling upword at breakneck speed as well. So even though 1975 have been on the scene longer, they could use a few tips from 1D on getting bigger faster. But then again, they are so different from 1D and have different types of fans, I don't know if those tips would work for them or not.

That's a really unfair thing to say. One Direction worked their asses off and you just disrespected and put down all that hard work they put in. five albums in five years, which is practically unheard of. While touring the world constantly. They barely got a moments rest in the five years they were together. And you just put down all the hard work they put into the band and their music. They wrote more than half of their songs, they had more say from the very beginning in what they wanted to look like and do in terms of performance, etc. than any other boy band has ever had. It's kind of shitty to devalue all that they did to make it big just because they are a boy band. They got big because they earned it. Not because they were an "industry plant" but because they worked for it and they are actually really talented and because yes they had a great team behind them, like every other major artist has a great team behind them that makes them big. You knock all of one direction's hard work while you still respect the other big artists that got to be big by doing the exact same things as they did to get big. Promotion, marketing, Image maintenance, etc. Really kind of hypocritical. The other artists aren't outside the music industry and how it works here.

saw this band in a little club for free in saratoga springs new york --- my musician boyfriend said let's go hear them they remind me of the bands of the 80s when music was so great---- we went and they were amazing. got to talk to him after his show he was sweet, gracious and bright--- he is going far!!!

They would have gone more mental then they've already gone. They think they rose fast before? That kind of tour would have almost killed them physically, mentally, and emotionally. Matty especially would be in full-time existential crisis mode, maybe even turned resentful cause they seem a bit on the bridge of it now sometimes. No, they need a more gradual pick-up, and they'll get used to the exponential build-up now at the pace they're going. I think they made one of the best decisions of their career not to go on tour with Rihanna, however much I like to jam out to her music sometimes.
