@@wavell14 Yes really. As a conservative I have always seen the left as being 'liberal' but what we now have is a split within the left. There is the traditional left, as personified by Tara Henley, and there is the 'woke' left who have given up liberal attitudes in favour of denying that there is/could be another point of view from theirs. About 60 years ago I had a number of friends from both right and left. One had a mother who was a Tory councillor, one had a father who was a Labour councillor (same council) and another's father was the Area Secretary of the T&GWU to describe just a few. We were still at school but regularly had debates on politics and often agreed to differ but never 'fell out' over our differing views. The woke left would never be friends with a conservative. We remained friends for many years and only drifted apart as we moved around the country, and in my case, the world. As Dave Rubin says, he did not leave the left, the left left him!

She doesn’t offer opposing views, perspectives or expertise, just one view, like CBC does. Tara identifies as far-left, which is a woke individual- you can’t separate the two. The problem with the ‘few’ on the Left who criticize the woke ideology, is that they still support aspects of it & fail to understand how those aspects they support give rise to the more extreme aspects they don’t like. She says CBC suffers from cognitive dissonance, but she can’t see it in herself. She’s blinded by her own ‘wokeism.’ People don’t want wokeism at all- I saw countless long-standing CBC listeners who said they turned CBC off because of the woke ideology they spew.

The Dave Chappelle point reminds me a lot of how BBC and Sky News report. They frame a particular narrative and assume people watching think the same; which is absurd because it's not real journalism. For example, BBC not long ago reported about the Rittenhouse trial, before the verdict, and only showed the prosecution, and then segwayed into what seemed to be their opinion on gun laws. I think the problem is there is a blurring of genuine unbiased reporting and opinion being stealthed in (very often in a smug sort of way and mostly bias). It's often quite cringeworthy to watch many of these presenters and reporters be oblivious to the bias they project (I certainly think some of them are seriously ignorant and pretty thick). The BBC, of all people, should report the facts with little or no bias out of journalistic integrity and to respect the hand that feeds them - the taxpayer. By all means, throw in opinions, but make it clear that they are. And, try to have some high-quality candidates with contesting views be heard on a reasonably level playing field (equality of opportunity, not outcome, for speech). I must say GB News is doing a far better job than Sky and BBC with many of these things.

I think that “woke ism” is far far more sinister than this nice lady is allowing. Try to identify the main areas of woke ism and compare them, quite specifically, with the Red Guards in the Chinese cultural Revolution of the 1970s.Allegedly “on the left” and supposedly primarily concerned with improving the lives of the working class, the Red Guards were instead entirely focussed on the dismantling of Chinese society…setting out(in their own words) to “Smash the Four Olds”…..old culture, old customs, old habits and old ideas. All of them . Now run quickly through the more outrageous “wokeness” of today and it is like a light going on. The Woke movement is about disintegrating the whole status quo…cultural, personal, political, sexual. And replacing it with a “perfect world”. They are totalitarian revolutionists and once you realise THAT you realise they are quite beyond rational debate, see “truth “ as an obstacle to their actual aims. They are your enemy; consider them as such

@@canucklehead4463 excellent point….Trudeau is pushing Canada way beyond anything we identify as “politics” as we know it by enshrining bizarre woke ideas into law and then criminalising ….criminalising …..those that don’t conform. Which everyone said was “about communism” but that is the same as saying “Woke ism” is “about social justice” ….these are just means to an end. And what is the end game? “Totalitarianism”…If the government can not only ban some words but compel you to use others…often just made up others… you know at the end of the road there has to be a gulag…actual or metaphorical.

Thank you for the interview as Ms. Henley is well respected in the Canadian and International Media with her colleagues in the industry and the astute viewers alike. The way it is right now with the woke style as the main message from the very top in media, management, education and so on. There is a huge backlash and pushback where fundamental core human values and morals which we believed in a Democracy are being challenged. We also need to find out the actual causes of why these powerful people at the helm holding such asinine views. More importantly, going back to the fundamentals of journalism and finding the "Who, What, When, Where and Why" plus "How" to find the real culprit which drastically influence them. Chances are, these extreme ideas and views were planted by the Soviet style of brainwashing and influence while they were in post-secondary. In fact, some of the 1960s rebellion against the US Government on the Vietnam War began on the college campuses, while some of the points where they rebel and revolt might be justified. Many have gradually morphed those moderate points to extreme fundamentalists beliefs where the Soviet style of conversion succeeded - with the long range and slow progression of brainwashing first, then the gradual and the accelerated level to quickly establish the new ideology as the dominant thoughts. Meanwhile, the majority of the sheep mentality in the society were completely unaware of the conversion by these leaders, and they too, would be accustomed to be avid followers. These type of mind and ideology conversion is nothing new. As we have seen it in most of the elderly who grew up in the autocratic regimes throughout the world. Whether they reside in former Soviet's Warsaw Bloc, in Mao's PRC, various Communist and Military dictatorship in Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America, plus the Neo-Fascism agendas as well. For example, those PRC citizens who were between childhood and adolescence under Cultural Revolution, still exhibited those hardcore fundamentalist ideologies and Maoist' thoughts from their treasured "The Little Red Book". In fact, many of those who have since immigrated elsewhere, largely retained those sentiments and behaviours due to the ingrained mind conversion becoming normal. If people like Ms. Henley and others do not speak out on Wokism and other extreme fundamentalists' ideologies, then our existing societies based on Democracy, would be under severe attacks where our Civil Liberties, Freedom of Speech and Personal Choice, plus other inalienable rights would be completely destroyed by those voices with the elite and powerful trying to assert themselves as the ultimate guideline to follow. This is how autocracy, communism, fascism, one-party regimes and military government operates. We better wake the hell up to speak against this and fight to the end, or else our Democracy would be gone forever.

All my NCOs were fellow Scots, and they loved me...and against convention, I was made platoon Senior for the last 7 weeks....But, then..for some mysterious reason?... I was the last one to get my Security Clearance?....because I told my platoon I admired Castro....because he got rid of the Mafia & the CIA...who had turned Cuba into a floating island whore house of young painted 15-year-old farm girls turned hookers, frequented in all the Habana Night clubs & Casinos by Marine officers, and well known, highly placed Yankee politicians. She raises some good points, but nothing new and I still find her somewhat of a hypocrite, especially when she mentioned on another interview “the media are devoting more time to trivia than they are to important issues” complaint when she knows as a producer the media air stupid stories that really don’t deserve any airtime at all, which she has produced herself. That being said, this interview was better than the last one I saw that boiled down to unsubstantiated and vague complaints; tsk tsk for a producer criticizing the state of journalism. And what was with her past laughable proposition that there isn’t enough debate about vaccine mandates, school closures, and Covid related lockdowns; as these things have been argued on the CBC so many times.

Good for her ,this sly ,insidious evil must stop, all views must be expressed and our freedom must be paramount ,along with truth , the wokist, kings new clothes attitude to reporting is not new ,but seems more and more prevelent , everyone should be able to argue their views and by free unrestricted ,open debate ,their relevance will be valued

I encourage everyone to listen to the most recent episode of CANADALAND podcast where she is interviewed by someone who actually asks her to backup her claims - shes not as bright / articulate as people are saying, its a grift

He asked her to be specific and she wasn't apart from a vague reference to Dave Chappelle. If you do want to have a discussion, please define the terms you are using and provide better examples of the issues around the problems caused by it.

They should go back to the basic; news. Not just the ones the government wants us to hear but all of the main ones. A few, diverse opinions is all good but people needs information so they can make their own opinions. Nowadays news are mostly opinions instead of facts. And the worst being the famous opinions of the Experts, the ones with no names that we never hear directly. I've always been told to check my sources in school, and it is why I dont watch news anymore as they very obviously dont most of the time... They just say what daddy government wants them to.
