Ok, that Kzer-Za's last dialogue is quite interesting. It seems their defeat convinced them to finally abandon the Path of Now and Forever. They can befriend others once more. If we get to go to *Pretty Space*, we could reunite them with the Taalo and mend their mental wound for good.

Or they're in the process of adopting even more extreme views that will lead to them joining together with the Kohr-Ah to try to annihilate humanity and the other races of the Alliance. Remember, the Melnorme said that the Ur-Quan Kzer-Za let the Kohr-Ah go 20,000 years because "they realized that there was a chance that they were wrong, and the Kohr-Ah were right." Further, by approaching the Sa-Matra, the Ur-Quan Kzer-Za are done being patient. "You" have shown that you're incapable of following the slaves laws and for this "your species' penalty shall be annihilation." You used the Ur-Quan's greatest fear, a re-evolved Dynarri, to get to the Sa-Matra and then you destroyed the great symbol of Ur-Quan dominance. Following that, your allies defeated both the Kohr-Ah and Kzer-Za fleets. The loss of the Sa-Matra alone had to deeply scarring to them given the reverence they put upon it and the sense of safety it must have offered them (if all else failed, they could always pull out the Sa-Matra to ensure their dominance, aka keep them from ever again becoming slaves to another). To make matters worse, their remaining fleet has also been forced to flee and there's a new very powerful alliance of alien races who have every reason to despise the Ur-Quan for enslaving them and killing untold numbers when beating them into submission the first time around. The Ur-Quan in this footage is likely the "volunteer" mentioned in one of the Kickstarter updates. Basically, from that brief we know that a lone Ur-Quan Dreadnought will offer to join the captain's fleet because he wants to "observe" the mission, but he won't "elaborate further" or explain the "true purpose of those observations." He also states that both Kzer-Za's Path of Now and Forever and the Kohr-Ah's Eternal Doctrine are no more and "intimates that the Ur-Quan are collectively seeking 'a new way,' and that the expedition commander’s actions will somehow aid them in finding that way." Meaning, both of Ur-Quan, including the group that spent the past 20,000 years committing genocide against some 5,000 alien species, are now working together to come up with a joint path forward. That should not be seen as good news.
@MrDibara7 ай бұрын
And considering the Ur-Quan do not lie, that line is very promising indeed! 😊 My biggest concern, though, is that maybe not _all_ the Kzer-za have abandoned the Path of Now and Forever, and we're gonna have to aid those who did on a sort of Kzer-Za Civil War. (we DO see an Earthling Cruiser battling an Ur-Quan Dreadnought, after all) *I just hope we'll still be strong enough to hold off the Kohr-ah, cause I'm **_pretty sure_** out of all Ur-Quans, they are the least likely to abandon their ways.* 💀
@Arilou_Wyvern7 ай бұрын
@@MrDibara PistolShrimp released a tease that revealed a lone Ur-Quan "volunteer" will offer to join the captain's fleet for observational purposes and that the outcome will determine their new path. The volunteer also indicates that the Kzer-Za and Kohr-Ah are working together to determine what that new path will be. Between that and the events of SC2 (destroying the Sa-Matra, using a revived Dynarri against them, and defeating both Ur-Quan fleets), I fully expect for the Kzer-Za to become more extreme in their views and work with their cousins to exterminate the aliens they previously tried to enslave. Heck, the last thing a Kzer-Za said in SC2 was that the punishment for approaching the Sa-Matra would be the annihilation of humanity, so they weren't previously against using the same methods as the Kohr-Ah if their usual tactics failed to contain an alien species that proved themselves capable of being an actual threat.

I'm so excited about this. Almost 50 years old now, but I've loved SC2 for most of my life This game kept me a virgin, and pure throughout high school. From the "worldly wise" girl that was 2 years older than me, to the cute redhead ballerina when we were 18, who used to come sit on my lap during the last class of a Friday, and beg to come swim in my pool after school, despite not bringing swimwear. But I was not interested in having people over, as the Ur-Quan needed to be defeated, and this Captain was going to stay the course. It wasn't until years later that I understood the subtext of why the ballerina wanted to come swim in my pool, after sitting on my lap, despite her not having her swimwear. But do you think I regretted it? No damn chance. I loved Star Control 2

I have to be honest. The melee combat in this game looks really bad. 0:30 It looks faithful to the original but it honestly looks like a kids game. The Dreadnought's blasters looks goofy as hell and just disappear as it hits the Cruiser, when even in SC2 there was some animation on the damaged ships. Oh well. It looks like a very early work-in-progress and I hope the final game looks nothing like this.
