I believe the I is for ignition timing (IGT) to assist in creating a spark and F is for fire (IGF) meaning the spark worked and the F is the signal back to the ECM stating there was the spark. If one of these did not work, a code is set in the ECM directing you to the problem but always diagnose and don't just change parts.
