Sabriel Guindon well first of all you need to know the meta and what and when you should pick a hero..for example if you see that your team will be creating space..a hard late game carry like AM is the best in this type of game...now as a support..supporting is a little tricky..most of us think that a good support should be buying wards not getting any farm and dying instead of a core hero in the team...thats not the case, because you have to find those lvls and that farm in order to buy wards and have item and lvl progression.and the most important thing! ADAPT YOUR PLAYSTYLE! example: with earthshaker i go items like dagger->force staff->shivas->octarine->hex->greaves but against a pl the item build goes like this:arcane->dagger->force staff->Veil->agha->shivas or octarine depending on the situation of the other team members..bottom line.dont get sad if you lose a couple of games..you have to go down and then reach the top slow and steady

As a Singaporean male in his late 20s, I completely relate to hyhy's story. Our parents went through a really hard life and believed that studies were the only way out for a better life. They saw that doctors and lawyers were the only ones doing well and naturally, doing anything else was a waste of time. Can't blame them for having this mindset and lets hope that we will be more open-minded to the opportunities future generations have
@blastermaster50392 жыл бұрын
I'd say that most asian parents, loving that they are, are also quite grounded in the realities of life. And the reality is that at times, playing a safe bet is better than going after that impossible dream. And yes the Internationals, with its fame and prestige is a huge gamble for Scythe and very much a dream that is too good to be true - and in the end that dream swallowed Scyhe along with all the rest, and Navi are the only ones able to live the dream of becoming the champions.

Well they weren't entirely wrong. E-Sports then (don't know about now) doesn't have the kind of backing to support players in a 'bad year'. In this case it was make or break for Hyhy and unfortunately it broke, leaving him with nothing and a year gone by of his life and nothing to show for it, which means another year of living off his parents instead of being able to support himself. I admire the risk Hyhy took, but it was a risk at the expense of not only his immediate future, but those who have to now look after his financial needs for another year. Well technically they don't have to, they could just boot him out onto the street, but you get my meaning.

This documentary is one of the most inspiring pieces of media i have ever seen. I live in an environment that is incredibly antagonistic towards gaming. My family looks down at me, I keep it as separate as i can from my social life and only my closest friends really know that i even enjoy playing games. This film has the potential to change everyones perception of gaming entirely, I really hope that it reaches people in my area (Perth, Australia) and changes the way people view 'us'. They shun, and disrespect 'us' and feel like they are better than us. What's worse is that for so long i had nothing to say to defend and justify myself. I stay inside and play games in my free time, i play games at night while my family sits at the other end of the house and every time they see me playing a game they go quiet and leave. The point that the asian girl in the film about how once the gamers today grow up and have children and support them and their hobby rather than shun them and try and prevent it like my parents and so many others did, then we will start to see a change in perception towards gaming. :)
@MarkoLomovic10 жыл бұрын
Well you have to brake common misconception and show them why you like it. You shouldn't let anyone look down at you and there is absolutely no reason to hide fact that you enjoy and who know hows many of your friends play games because you feel ashamed you hide it and then you give them reason to disrespect you. So stand your ground and show them there is northing wrong with it. I don't see people disrespect chess players that committed their life to the game.

What a wonderful journey so far. Gaming and eSports as a whole has created something absolutely breathtaking. Bringing so many passionate gamers together to make something incredible. Shame on you if you clicked on this video to make a comment comparing one game to another, because this video isn't about that. This video is about gamers who are dedicated to what they love, and how eSports have given them the opportunity to turn their love of the game into a lifestyle. "Danil has the same control and patience of his father." But at the beginning of the video teammates are quoted on Dendi tending to overextend and become impatient. I have played at most 5 or 6 hours of DoTA in my entire life, despite my brother-in-law's best tries to get me into it (He has 500-600 hours as of this post and is only slowed down by his job). However, he recommended that I watch this documentary, and I can not honestly say that I have ever been more into a documentary in my whole life. Valve did a great job explaining the game enough so if you have at least a basic knowledge of the game you can totally follow it. It was inspiring, and while I am still fairly certain that I won't play DoTA much more I will try and play other games more competitively. This is also really inspiring because, well, it shows that e-sports has come a long way. I personally detest all sports, yet I love videogames and those who play them professionally. There is just something uncanny about how scarily good some players are, and how you can always come up with a new strategy. A lot of other sports have very specific rules, and that's just the way you play. But in videogames you can always have a new brilliant idea, a new strategy that might just win you something big. Like $1,000,000.

It took me about 300 hours to truly understand the game but I eventually did and played it for thousands of hours. I quit around 2017 but recently returned. The magic is still there.

I'm sure if my gf broke up with me, I'd try to make millions off of tennis...right now I'm only in junior college playing #1 singles and doubles and top 40 in state, I hope that's enough to make my gf proud of me. As much as I would have loved to be a pro gamer, I don't think I could do it, the pros are the top 0.5-1% of the world who have the ability to play at that level and I don't think I have that.

Watching this after a 5 game losing streak really keeps you moving. You remember that with enough time and practice, it could be you grabbing that aegis at the end of TI as the crowd goes insane and fireworks shoot up everywhere. You have the chance, as slim as it may be, to win something this big and get credit for something you really like to do.

if youre starting to play this game, start slow, dont play with a high leveled friend as you will get flamed for taking the team down(and also if he finds the game the players in the game will be his level so you wont stand a chance), when you start the game you will be playing with your leveled players, so theyre as noob as you are and there is no shame in admitting that. just be friendly and they will be friendly back and just dont lose your patience and youll be fine. glhf and enjoy -experienced player

It was 1-2 years ago. I didn't even have an idea what MOBA was. Then I heard everyone talking about this game called "League Of Legends" I decided to try it. I've played it for a while. I quite enjoyed it. Then I decided to quit because I became too addicted to it and I had an important exam soon. After the exam I was not sure if I should start playing again. Then I heard my friends argueing about which one is better: LoL or DOTA 2. I decided to try this other game called DOTA 2. I liked it even more than LoL. I thought it was better. Now I play both but I enjoy and play dota 2 more. But I've watched only a few tournament games. I'm not really into watching people play. I prefer playing it myself. Unless it's a horror game because I'm a big baby :( Anyways so I didn't know anything about the pro teams and players of The International before watching this. And after watching this I can say 4 THINGS for certain: 1- Dendi looks like a really cool and nice guy. 2- Watching this made me feel hyped about the tournaments unlike before. I'm definitely going to watch TI5 finals. 3- Dendi picked a hero in the tournaments he never played before? That's true balls right there. 4- All this information about me above was useless and probably wasted your time. lol sorry :P

Really sad how the Singapore player is treated, I knew the feeling whilst growing up though not to the same degree. I think a lot of gamers can attest to some discrimination. Gaming really needs to be something that isn't so stigmatised and I wish it became more universal and even more females would be drawn in. The pillars of gaming are usually good ones. Intellect, reflexes, socialisation. And being exposed to an international community can only help to give people more well rounded world views. Nice documentary. :)

Other game developers don't make documentary features about the game culture so often. What makes DOTA 2 and CS:GO special to other games is that their developer actually understands the culture of their community. Other developers don't engage their community a lot, and that makes these games one of the vanguards of esports because of the stories and culture behind it. Kodus, Valve for making these games worth our time and happiness. P.S: Release those "3"s already, update us Valve.

I love Dota and this documentary, but I really hope Valve doesn't forget about CS. I mean its the 3rd (soon to be 4th to Dota 2 after ti4) paying game from so many tournaments. I remember watching CS when it first started and it got so huge so fast. I think they should do a tournament similar to TI. Community donated, more skins, stickers, and call the tournament "The Global Elite", considering it would be a world wide tournament to see who is the best at CS (Well CS:GO of course), and then the prize is the global elite symbol similar the shield given out at TI (Sorry I don't know the name of it if it has one), and of course money. But it is what it is :-).
