~~Measurements~~
Covers are 2 pieces of colored cardstock that are cut to 4.25" (w) x 11" (l)
Binding support is a piece of black chipboard cut to 11" (l) x .75" (w)
Project sheets are 4.25"x 11" after folding...see the link for the free PDF
Binding: after you have folded the project sheets take a ruler and find the middle and make a mark, then measure up 2.50" from that center mark and make a mark and then measure down from the center and make a mark...then measure in .50"... this is where you will punch your holes for either the book rings or twine

Yes please to a video. This looks the easiest to create and use that I have seen of this sort of idea. I will be cutting the 'spine' edge, and reinforcing the short left hand side. Using one larger book binding ring placed near the top left hand corner I will be using it like a flip book and storing it hung on a hook for easy use. Thanks for such a practical, low cost tool.

I use index cards. The lined fronts are for writing info on and the plain backs are for sketches. I hold them together with binder rings. I like the idea of using scraps to separate seasons.

This is a great idea! I write down designs I see that don’t have blog posts but then I forget where I put them. Would love to see how you fill out the page. I love it when designers provide all the measurements, photos and videos on their blog posts. I just work from my iPad then. So much easier for me for organizing. I’d like to see it after you make your refinements. I clearly remember Kristina doing hers, but I always just sketched in my design journals and made h/w notes! This is really tidy, and way more portable. I date my journals by beginning month and year to ending month and year, and write notes about the techniques I used and tape/staple in one of my finished cards. I’ve done this since the 1990s, and have referenced the older ones to remember how to do that technique and to see how far I have come since I began! I think I’d use this kind of journal while watching videos or designing a specific card for someone. Great idea. TFS.

I think I'd make a box put little dividers like a recipe box. I usually use a small binder for stuff like this with page protectors.

Great idea. I have been putting instructions and samples in a 3” 3-ring binder that is currently full and starting a 2nd binder. Recently I was shown the idea of making templates using scrap paper and putting the measurements and scoring on the template along with any special instructions such as being aware of patterns and changing focal points. I am keeping these in a separate box that is easy to look through and in no special order.

Great idea. But I might do single sided,this way I'd have more room for my notes. Right now I do this but I draw a diagram of the card all my info in a composition book. Rings are a diffident yes. As stated ,can remove or add to it and also lays flatter. Thanks for sharing. A saved one for sure.

Yes please! Like you I have wanted to have a book or ? for ideas. I started with 4 x 6 index cards...They are now all in different piles in different places. My plan was for make a recipe box with dividers, it would have been grand...sigh. So yes I would also like to see how you put this to work.

This would be a great reference if I wanted to make a copy or variation of a design of a card I'd previously made. I photograph all my cards when I've made them. I could print a photo of each card I make on copy paper and stick it over the design rectangle. Then I'd have a handy reference to techniques or designs I've used before if I want to use them again. (Yes, there is a particular card I made a while back that I want to make a variation of, if only I could remember where I saw the technique I used so I could refresh my memory of that technique) I wouldn't use anything thicker than copy paper to print the images, as I wouldn't want to make the folder too bulky.

Hi MayMay this is a great idea but a tip for you , yes cut the pages. Also, a hole reinforcement punch will make it a better chance of the pages not ripping later because of the rings. I fell in love with the rings a few years ago.
