Hello! In my last video, I asked you guys if you wanted me to make a video explaining how I would be going to my doctoral program for free. So here it is (along with how I went to college and grad school free)! I made a video like this a few years ago, but I've added much more detail!
I tried not to make this video terribly long but there is a lot of information, so please pause throughout to read the screenshots as needed.

This video is the truth. I was asked so many questions when I graduated DEBT free and studied in England for a year. I ended up writing a book called, "The Scholarship Thief" where I show students how to search for scholarships, write your essay, prepare for study abroad etc. The money is there but like you said "you have to put in work". Great vid!

Tfs. When I applied to undergrad at UGA, I applied early action. I got Zell Miller and a number of other scholarships I applied for within my college and ended up graduating with $8k in debt. I would have LOVEDDD to go to school for free, but I guess it's not too bad lol. Plenty of my friends have a lot more in student loans. I'm currently applying to graduate schools (Mercer and KSU) and both programs offer monthly stipends if you're accepted so I'm crossing my fingers I get accepted for the Fall 😊🤞🏾

Update: I got accepted into KSU's program! They offer free tuition and a monthly stipend, but I'll still have to take out some loans to cover the rest of my living expenses😣 I"m hoping to apply for graduate scholarships to help reduce the amount of loans needed.

Damn this should’ve came my freshman year. I’m graduating in December. I went to community college for two year and transferred. I’m leaving with 24k in student loan debt 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 as opposed to 45k +

I wish more people (guidance counselors) would talk about the many companies that offer employees tuition reimbursement. The company I work for has no "GPA requirement" you just have to be with company for 90 days and make a C or better. Also they will assist with undergrad and grad school! Now many do ask that you stay with the company for a couple years after graduation but really that's a perk because there's no need to job search after graduation! Not to mention the additional money you have after paying your bills can go into your savings for school too. I never thought I could goto college for free because most scholarships had competitive GPA and test requirements! I do agree with going to state or community college, honestly big universities are hyped up in high school but once you get out into the real world no one cares where you went as long as you graduated and have your credentials! Informative video 👌

Do not wait on a counselor to tell you about opportunities. Information about Assistantships for example are usually found on the schools website. Either under the program you’re trying to get into or under financial aid. My best advice to anyone is to explore the website best you can first. Colleges will also have their own job pages, if you narrow your search you may come across openings for research assistant, etc.

Hi Aaron! New subscriber and fellow GA girl here, truly enjoy your content! I was recently accepted to Howard University for my PhD program, so we will be starting school around the same time! You mentioned the military but said you didn't know how it worked and let me tell you... the Army has paid for my undergrad, masters, and soon my PhD! ROTC paid for my undergrad and I joined the Army Reserve for 8 years (so far I have served 6), and Mercer University paid all cadet's room and board for all four years! I walked away with that private education completely debt free! Once in the Reserve, I used a combo of Tuition Assistance from the Army and then I had a Teaching Assistantship the latter half so I paid just a few hundred out of pocket for fees. Getting ready to get this fellowship and use my GI bill for the PhD. We have to keep educating each other on how to go to school and be debt free because there are sooooo many ways!

Great info!!! My friend did a research assistant program and she is now doing her post doc in NY. They are still paying her and she has to teach for a certain amt of semesters. She gets a stipend and she has 2 kids. One thing I would like to add (and this could be for continuing education or for those who haven't gone to college and are working) - Tuition reimbursement!!!!! Many jobs (mine included) have this program. They typically require you to maintain a certain grade and a certain amt of hours at work (35 or 36 hrs/ week) to receive the reimbursement. I have done this while having to physically attend class and now, in an online program (I'm going for my 2nd Bachelors in Clinical Lab Science). Also, read the fine print! There may be a difference in undergrad vs masters vs phd. For example, if you are doing an undergrad degree in my program, you just have to maintain a certain grade as mentioned above. If you are doing a masters or higher, you have maintain a B and there are additional stipulations. I can literally recycle the same $1500 each semester, I just have to time when I submit my final grades to HR.

So inspiring! ❤️Although I didn’t have a good foundation for when I started my freshman year as I matured over these past 2 years, having not been able to go to school like I want, I found my drive and will to bust my ass for what I want (a PHD in Biology). I strive to be this focused and on the ball.

This video is 1 year old but you lit the fire under me 😭 I paid over $80,000 in student loans for undergrad because I did not continue to ask questions and let the rejection from the financial aid office to defeat me. I refuse to go through that again for my graduate studies. I’ve paid my debt to society! I’m currently working on completing applications for multiple scholarships. #ImNotPayingNotOneDime

If anyone is a military dependent and want to go to a public institution then you can possibly go for free or pay very little. Contact the Veteran Affairs Office or the school of choice and ask if you’re eligible for Chapter 33 Benefits.

It's crazy how many people I know who just applied blind to any school with out looking for great schools that are fully funded. I mean why go into huge debt when you can go for free, work hard to get experience, and get a excellent education. I just got accepted into UFL for a MFA in creative photography with a grad assistantship and a fellowship.

@@ruthosornio7779 Spoiler alert, I couldn't keep up with school and work. It was too much for my brain to manage. Mainly because I applied for a teletherapy SLPA job, it was like a lot, on top of a lot. But, maybe if you do something other than speech on the side, you can thrive doing both. Good luck, I hope you get in! Who is your interview with?
