You asked when they officially put that sign up in the video and it was probably when they close the mall down officially around two years ago. There was a point where the mall was basically closed and there was only like two stores left open, but you could still walk in there or the public still go into the open part of the mall. Once they close that down though I’m pretty sure they put those signs up. I thought all the doors were locked in the mall after they closed it down completely. This video has brought back so many memories, but it also cleared a lot of things up for me. I figured them all closed because of Destiny and lack of business, but I’m assuming it now probably closed for more than just financial reasons. I think the theater was closed well before the rest of the mall was, and it was probably due to water damage. Seeing how bad the movie theater was really turned the lightbulb on in my head and it made me realize that’s probably why it’s abandoned. There’s been talk about restoring it and what they were gonna do with it when it first closed. I think it was supposed to become like a retirement community, but obviously they didn’t do that. It was interesting to see all that paint there too because obviously at one point, they thought about restoring it. it be very hard to restore though if there’s that much water damage but they could always take that part off if it’s just isolated to the movie theater hopefully. I would love to see this become some thing and not just get torn down like everything else does around here.

The theater closed in March 2020 due to the covid lockdowns and never reopened. Last I heard they are planning to tear down the mall and put in some mixed use housing and retail.

I use to go to this mall alot from the 90s as a child growing up until my late to mid 20s. So many stores have came and gone there and i even use to work at the old navy that was there. I really enjoyed spending alot of time there as a teenager in hot topic and spencers gifts and gamestop. The resturant you went into use to be called ruby tuesdays. I will always miss this mall and it is very sad to see the state it is in now....

I’m surprised they still have the playset in there. We actually went there on one of the last couple days. They were open a few years ago so my daughter could play on the playset. I grew up in that area and this mall was a big part of my childhood. Seeing this is eye-opening and also really sad. I wish they had done something with the building instead of let it rot.

Memories i had here. First pair of contacts, movie hopping, smoking blunts in the movie theater bathroom after closing, drifting in the parking lot(still do this), and ofc eating at every restaurant that opened there at one point.

I miss the 90’s. This place was so much fun as a kid. Whether it be the video store or the food concession. Movies theater, you name it. It was just so different in the 90’s. Thanks to Amazon these malls died out. And Covid finally just finished it off on its last thread. I wish I could go back for a day.

This is the parking lot Timthetatman used to show off his Hellcat powered Jeep Gladiator. I live about 10 minutes from here and worked in the mall as a teen. Another neat abandoned mall to check out would be ShoppingTown Mall in East Syracuse/Dewitt, just a quick trip south on 481. It closed officially in March 2020
@thestormking6737Ай бұрын
Shopping town has 24/7 security on site and in the building. Plus police patrol constantly so getting in is risky business

Iive 3 miles down the road from this place. Was a big chunk of my childhood like going to Friendly's with my grandma every other week for dinner when my parents worked or hanging out at footlocker for an hour or 2 a day with my friends who worked there. Sad they couldn't save it.

I used to work for a concrete company, we redid the sidewalk out back by the movie theater entrance back in 2018, even then I was surprised we were there because hardly anyone shopped there.

The water damage was so bad, one of the last times I was there it was pouring out, they had a bunch of rolling garbage bins trying to catch the rain water inside. Pieces of the ceiling were all over the ground, floor was soaked, I couldn’t believe that it was still in operation. That was probably 2019

Hi, yes this is my mom. I used to go here when it was open and yes, 2020 killed regal Cinemas. This was closed long before the other portion of them all was closed. My opinion sections of the mall closed little by little by little until you had nothing but the sea wing and the front door left with everybody else gone Going down the wings. Dick’s Sporting Goods had nothing in it except for I believe a little sports store that was in the rue21 store. After that, the Bontan wing was completely empty. Christopher and banks was the first store to go bankrupt in the mall before it closed. My friend had a friend named red who used to work there and he said that she said that the door went down for damage I believe roof damage and they were repairing their roof damage at the time and the company Just went out of business completely told them to stop repairing their store. Don’t put back any of the merchandise send it to desk anymore will sell it off there and go out of business so they all went out of business and never came back. Going down the way where Christopher and Banks was every single store on that wing completely went out of business and there was nothing left in the middle that used to be a Dunkin’ Donuts. That’s where Santa Claus and the Easter bunny was there was a I think it was orange Julius at one point, but I don’t remember there was the Pretzel Pl., Bell rumor that there was an Arby’s at one point yes that was a subway, a newer subway, not an older subway And a bunch of other restaurants. Dessert center was the Friendly’s restaurant I had a man in that restaurant in many many years, but I do remember eating there with my friends Kara and Clair. Going down across that used to be the Macy’s at the furniture store and the furniture store is supposed to be moving into the Dick’s Sporting Goods which I don’t know how true that is and I don’t know why they would fix up Macy’s and put a new parking lot in if they’re just gonna move out of it And it’s gonna ride away or get torn down with the rest of them all as it is gonna get torn down soon and why they would go into Dick’s Sporting Goods, which has roof damage and is way worse than Macy’s was. But they’re in Macy’s right now and they’re going in the Dick’s Sporting Goods. A rundown of what stores were there Dick’s Sporting Goods Nikki‘s party place CNY Mac store the little sports store. I forget their name, Syracuse University shop, Old Navy, LensCrafters, Duncan, Bright furniture bill’s carpet Bath & body Works, Old Navy, and shoe department for what I can’t remember was there during the time of the closure and now nothing exists anymore. In the mall it’s gonna be torn down because of the so-called micron building that has not been built yet supposedly supposed to be coming to town, but I don’t believe it. They’re supposed to be coming to Clay New York White Pines commerce, but I don’t believe it. They have delay after delays after delays so I don’t even think they’re coming, but who am I to say they’re not coming they could be coming any year now you never know but they don’t yet have access to starting their mega fab factory yet.

And also the owner (Guy Hart) said he was donating that tree so I'm kinda peeved. So many local businesses were willing to buy it off him.
@ttocsthefurnaceАй бұрын
Yes those chairs were the food court one's. The active furniture store is Dunk and Bright. That Italian eatery originally a Subarro's before, the desert center thing was a Friendly's, the cinema was a Regal, the ciema closed about a year or two before the complete shut down of the mall interior stores that were left, Dick's P was a Dick's Sporting goods sign, Record town was actually FYE, that holister became a womans clothing store after they left, that "creepy looking store" was a rainbow zen prior to that it was a hot topic, that resturant across from the vape store was a Ruby' Tuesday's, Larger than Life comics did sell movies as well, Underground RC was a rc raceway where you could race them and sold rc cars as well, the retro place with letters everywhere was in fact a retro/antique store, in dicks the "scoreboard" was tv's that had sports games on it and the court below was for show that was full of shoe stands. I miss this mall, it was amazing, went there sooooo much as a kid, used to walk there with my friends and just hang out there during the summer.
