Awesome video tutorial! You need to do more of these. This is really easy to follow, and It actually works well when I try it. I even made a nut by myself afterwards! Thank you

Camphor is an oil. Chamfer is to create a flat edge. Good video.

Keeps the moths off, mind you. Great video. I used to bug out when people made this type of mistake, then read somewhere that it's often a result of learning from text and having no feedback to their pronunciation. Now I'm happy to see autodidacts in the wild!

In Sketcher editing mode click over the 'Section view' icon or you can make the 'Section view' permanently on going to Edit-Preferences-Sketcher-Display and tick the correct box.

Where is a good place to get the dimensions for diffent threads ?

Machinery Handbook is a great place too. And it's something you don't need the internet for! I bought a pretty old one for 20 dollars or so. Most of that information doesn't change enough to matter for hobby use

What was the point of hiding the head and doing the chamfer and threading again? Why not just skip to changing the position of the head on the x axis?
@willstandley68472 жыл бұрын
I wanted to remove the chamfer from the hex head end of the shaft and the video shows how I chose to do it. I'm sure there are other ways to to this but I did it this way and it worked.
@LeAdri1du40 Жыл бұрын
You don't need to delete everything and start over, could have just double clicked on the chamfer to edit it, and deselect the face you don't want chamfered anymore.. Tada🎉

Even if you are using 'mm' as your predefined units you can enter the values he's entering followed by 'in' or the ' " 'character and erase the 'mm' within the value box. After entering the value, FreeCAD will calculate the conversion and change it automatically to 'mm' again. Remember the ISO threads are constructed differently than SAE norm. ISO thread uses the pitch value to advance the screw by a turn and SAE is the counting of turns per inch. Newer FreeCAD versions include the Fasteners workbench and became useless this method of construction of a bolt or screw. But if you need to construct a customary bolt, for example, then you need to follow this method. In this video the Hex head was padded incorrectly. No need of a second body. The last sketch should be mapped to the end of the shaft...
