I purchased MotoPress theme (it's old from 2018) and I got stacked on it home page. On top I did not do correct set up which call for clean WordPress. Great tutorial. I learned Wordpress a while ago, then switched to code based design, now I'm revisiting it. This was a really helpful refresher. Wordpress feels kind of awkward to me, but this tutorial makes it easier to get used to. Much different than coding, but kind of more fun imo. Not as much control, but you can get a cool site faster and learn a lot just by playing around with the interface.

@@sudhara4073 In my opinion, if you don't have any experience with web design/coding, learning Wordpress and using a high quality theme would probably be the easiest way to get a pro looking site fast. The Wordpress framework/theme can do much of the functionality and creativity for you, you just add and adjust contents. With code you have to do every detail of the function and style manually, and it takes a lot of time/practice.

I’m just starting a small business and I’m looking for the least expensive way to do things. Free is the least expensive! 😅 Seriously, I used a company for my LLC and a few other things. They have a free DIY domain set up and a website set up included with certain other purchases. They’re not user friendly, you only have a few free customizing items and templates. I’ve spent hours trying to do something with this. I prayed for help and asked my spiritual family to help me with this. I need to get the business online soon not waste time. I was browsing the KZbin home page on my TV and you appeared. I’d seen a few others but they didn’t click with me. Yours really drew me in! I can’t thank you enough! I’m not finished watching but I saved your video in 2 places and I even printed a few things that were written out. I can’t wait to start on Wordpress to create an amazing website! Besides your very detailed narration and the user friendly features of Wordpress, I can see I’ll have fun with it!

Important point. With the All in One Migration plugin, restore doesn't work in the free version. It requires the paid version. You can download the backup and then import it.

@@uuach731 nah i just learned through a diff video that even people who know how to make websites through all the js/html/css stuff use wordpress to make websites to save time during freelancing , and when you said youve been watching freecodecamp for 4 years i realized you were one of those people too , i personally am going to start freelancing from next month when i start my cs bachelors and i thought id firt have to learn all the tedious stuff like node.js , js , html , css , react and stuff before i can make good websites to earn a sidebuck , but wordpress is a huge revelation , ill learn wordpress for now to do freelancing so that it takes less time and i can continue further with my main studies

So Ive been working as a Software Developer using Ruby on Rails for a while. Im trying to start doing stuff on the side for friends/family. Ive been told wordpress is the quickest/most straight forward way to do that if youre not already jumping on a system thats already been created. Do you have the same amount of control or do you have to use preset themes and what not?

Try from HTML and CSS, than JS, WordPress(maybe). Next, focus on Frontend or Backend. Watch a video called "Web Development In 2021 - A Practical Guide" on the Traversy Media channel. Do some research, experiment (play with different technologies), and you will find what best suited for you. Don't forget to build your portfolio, that is a must! Good luck!

As a web dev student who is about to learn APIs next, this looks pretty awesome. I can see why some people are weary of site creators like this as it could steal their jobs. I likely won't use WP other than creating templates/themes to sell because I prefer old school, but WP seems to be a great choice when you want something fast.

Just a tip for people that are just trying to learn a little bit about wordpress without spending at the moment, use services like MAMP to set up a local environment instead of buying domains exc.
