Freed Hamas Hostage Yocheved Lifshitz, 85, Says She Was "Treated Well" After Enduring "Hell"

Hamas has released two Israeli civilians held hostage in Gaza, 79-year-old Nurit Cooper and 85-year-old Yocheved Lifshitz, with the militant group saying they were let go for "humanitarian reasons and poor health grounds." Hamas shared a video of armed fighters releasing the elderly hostages that shows Lifshitz reaching back to shake the hand of one of her captors and saying "Shalom" - the Hebrew word for "peace." We feature comments from Lifshitz upon her release as she describes humane treatment by her captors and expresses criticism of Israel's intelligence failure, and we get a response from Palestinian American journalist Rami Khouri. "She represents probably the essence, I think, of what makes Judaism such a special religion. It is based on ethics … and the pursuit of justice," Khouri says. The struggle of Palestinians "is not with Jewish people. It is with the Zionist movement that became the state of Israel, which is widely recognized around the world as an apartheid system."

The Large Hall: “They really took care of the sanitary side of things so that we didn’t get sick,” Lifshitz added. Each of the five hostages in her group received their own doctor and there was a paramedic present who supervised medication, she said. “They were very generous to us, very kind. They kept us clean,” Lifshitz said. “They took care of every detail. There are a lot of women and they know about feminine hygiene and they took care of everything there.”

What a beautiful soul. What a huge relief for her family that she has been released alive, well, and with dignity. On the contrary , she shared that she was bombed by idf while she held hostage by the hamas...infact, she also shared that the hamas member was wounded in that attack. Another israeli woman in another video shared that the hamas fighter asked for permission to eat the banana in her home. She and her kids were not harmed and hamas left her home after 2 hrs. Wld a terrorist ask permission to eat a banana in your home?...he was respectful even about eating her banana....that says alot . Morever, a frail elderly woman like her would have not survived a terrorist attack and bomb blast had she been in emotional distress and was cruelly treated. The fact that she is well makes it more likely that she was indeed well taken care off and did not suffer much distress .
