I really enjoyed Freed. He was a very fun character and pretty much stole every scene he was in. Unfortunately, DxD has this bad habbit of shafting interesting villains very quickly. Raynare is probably the most notorious example but, most other villains only show up for one arc too. Freed was lucky to get in three arcs.

@Zensh the reason why I personally think it failed. Is because they skipped so much from s3 to s4. Plus episode 0 diddnt help at all. The new animation style really killed it. It turned it into more of a cartoon instead of anime. Jokes were still top tier, fights scenes were good, just character changes and art changes really diddnt let it slide. We missed alot of world building making everything little off

I can see what you meant with cartoon-ish art style, but that's just how things look in the light novel. Well they did the Kyoto part right it was a nice tour around it aswell. I see your point though but I personally have a different opinion about season 4.

Most of the reason why season 3 was a mess was because of the high number of source material changes. They over corrected in season 4 and we haven’t had a season 5 yet. There’s been some rumors but nothing solid yet.

Honestly it's a shame that Freed died especially since only a few arcs later he gets replaced by Siegfried. Someone who looks like Freed, basically has the same background as freed (they're both test-tube babies from the Sigurd institute and trained at the same place) except he has basically no personality, has a sacred Gear and a bunch of bullshit swords.
