Former boat owner 20+ years, I found FBC and member of 5 years and I love it. No headaches, no responsibility, no winter storage, no breakdown and waiting weeks for a mechanic to look and repair my boat. All gone. FBC is best thing since slice bread. I paid 5k to enter and $399 a month thereafter, I am a boater, I use it, and its great. End of story. Something out there for everyone.

For sure. Boats have a lot of problems. I got a brand new one and problems keep coming up and the maintenance is a pain. But it is nice to be able to fish locations that don't have clubs. Neither is perfect you just have to figure what works better for you.

The biggest tip on learning from the professional trainers id docking a boat. I learned so much from taking a course. On docking backward to my slip. I am teaching my wife on when to start turning and moving the outdrive before you even get to your slip. I saw a lot of boat owners who drove their boats like they drove their cars. With current and wind, even a small boat is very much not the same as a car backing into a slip. Pay attention to what is being told and done by the professional trainer. The boat wants to slide sideways on any docking.

Another comment I want to say is if you back your truck into the slips, you need to wash your trucks underneath 😊 if your truck backs into the salt water, it corrosion on your nice truck. When you get home, wash your rearend of truck 😊

One of the most informative videos I’ve watched! Thanks for making it…considering the club myself and this helped a lot. I’ll use it for fishing mostly in the PNW too. See ya out there!

Very informative. I had to laugh about the cup holders. My husband gives me a hard time about needing to survey the cup holder situation on any rig 😂

@@lynjameson1368 it was so bad on some boats my one buddy went and bought a clip on cup holder in case the boat we took out didn’t have one. Not a bad thing to have just in case.

Thank you for talking about membership 😊 for me owning a boat that I had slip in Marina It cost about $400 a month ( 24 foot boat) the overnight boats that the club lets you use. For me on ownership of my own boat, doing the yearly maintenance on enand especially the outdrive lower unit it was about $7000 to do toal maintenance That is keeping a boat in salt water. I'm just saying if you want to own a boat and have it ship shape to cruise the sound. The FUEL cost was in the 100s of dollars. I am just saying if you don't want these personal expenses, this club might be for you. Next time your at a boat show. Is the outdrive painted. Is the hull painted for salt water. Just think about those costs on ownership. What do you want to pay over a rental cost for boating For us, it was TWO year after owning a boat, then we did not use her as much.

I will also say you do not want to fill a trailer boat at the gas station you get ( eternal) fuel. Be careful of that boats vent different than a car. Fill your boat at a marina that has proper fuel. You must flush your engine after each use, and new boats have this system set up on the engine. 😊

This sounds great, I know they have boats in France, but sadly none here in the UK, they would clean up on the canals alone. We have ludicrously expensive and complex bureaucracy regarding boat ownership and even the boats/barges you can hire are $1000 a week so 8 trips for $200 a month would be marvellous. No towing, no mooring no maintenance Wow.

The last I heard they were talking about opening clubs up in Spain. Not sure where they were at with that but I know a lot of you guys go there for holidays.

I found availability of boats was the real issue with Freedom Boat Club. Weekends fill up fairly far in advance vs. your own boat, which is free if you decide you want a short trip same day. Weather and other problems probably make for a 50% cancellation rate on my boating trips. Freedom Boat Club makes sense if you want to go on off times like during the week.
@PeelingLine9 ай бұрын
That makes sense. There is always a rush to do anything on the weekends in PNW. I should have just had the weekday plan since that is when I can fish most of the time. My home location was Port Orchard and sinclair inlet is usually pretty calm when it is crazy in other locations. So I didn't have the weather issue so much.

Which club were you using?

@@drewbreneman I am in Hampton Roads, Virginia. But, I think any time you are signing up 6 or 8 families per boat, you will have the same problem regardless of location.

Yeah, after three years on the water, they sell them out right. That’s another benefit. Any boat you use through the club is three years old or less. So you’ll always have a “New” Boat.
