That's the main problem with the Michael Bay Transformers films. Optimus Prime does believe that freedom is the right of all sentient beings, but with each passing movie, this version of Optimus Prime loses sight of that ideal.

Optimus was justified in killing Bonecrusher, self defense & all, He however was not justified in killing Demolisher who he basically just executed Grindor because he begged for mercy The Fallen is an intresting case as the kill was justified cuz you know going to destroy sun and all that evil speech stuff, but the means in which he did were completley messed up ripping the dudes face off then crushing his own spark in his face Shockwave could be seen as a mercy kill but based on what Prime had to say about it i doubt that very much Megatron is probobly the worst case as Megatron offred a truce & Prime was all like Haha no lol Sentinel Prime was executed in cold blood perhaps you could make a excuse for treason, but he did beg for his life sooooo... Believe it or not he is more justified in killing the Cemetary Wind soldiers, & Harold Attinger then any of the cons i listed above as they would have killed Cade Yeager his human friend so you know self-defense or in this case defense of others Threating the Dinobots yeah that's not cool as for Lockdown he was going to kill Cade so.. it's justified but Prime going Honor to the end is pretty brain dead & as for Infernacus, they were charging him, so you know self defense as for driller & every random Decepticon kill in Dotm is justified because their in war all that, plus for driller's case driller would have killed his human allies so you know So overall i conclude that Bonecrusher, Driller, Harold Attinger, & Infernacus were justified, but that does leave Demolisher, Grindor, Shockwave, Megatron, & Sentinel Prime's Deaths unjustified as for the Fallen it's complicated as stated above on one hand he was going to destroy the planet, on the other hand how Prime killed him is pretty Barbaric & uncalled for, i don't know discuss it it's my belif that the Autobots if they are to be depiced as heroic any kill they do should be justified as well as quick & effcenit, they are not brutal psycopaths afterall.

Honestly, I hate it when people are like "bUt oPtImUs WaS kIlLiNg BaD gUyS" Cause that misses the whole reason why this just doesn't work. Some of these deaths wouldn't feel out of place in Mortal Kombat, but here we have Optimus Prime, famed defender of life and freedom, running around killing people in ways that would get these films an R rating if they weren't robots. The thing is, the issues go beyond just how Optimus acts in a fight, because he also actively demeans his opponents, always goes for the head when aiming, has what feels like thirteen weapons, all of which are used to kill people in revelatory ways. This version of Optimus is a perversion of what the character should be. However, that doesn't mean that this character is bad as a whole, rather it is simply antithetical to the anti-war stance that Optimus is supposed to represent. Rename this character, change his face a bit, and boom! You would have the same bad-ass character, while also providing a foil to Optimus' more gentle and caring outlook.

Ahhh so every kill Optimus makes in all the movies is unjust, even when the one he takes out is still in the process of committing actual genocide, or when he's ganged up on 3 to 1 or when he acts to save someone else. Got it. The only part that needs fixing is either cutting the "give me your face" line or leaving the relevant scene in the movie that puts that line to the Fallen in context. And maybe tweak the dialogue to Grimlock. But I guess every kill is a war crime..
