Another incredible talk by Phap Dung ! I love his talks because he was oncne a regular person like us and can see both sides of those lives. I work in a metal shop and listen to these talks and had a epiphany while using a grinder with just my right hand being lazy and was getting a poor result. I used both hands to steady the grinder and got a much smoother result. Amazing !

What you just said was very important. How you got sick because of the mind you had of how monks should be and how life should be. This is our sickness. We constantly keep trying to make things the way I want them to be. To make the family or your monastic life different than what it is. This is our sickness. The Buddha taught us that there is suffering and this is it . The mind constantly searching to reorganize or make things different- whatever that different may look like to you. My mind keeps running after something or someone to sort of save me from my deep suffering. Even before I wrote this I was making a resolve to go to Plum Village because only there could I find whatever it is that’s missing or lost in me. Thank you for sharing this. Thanks to all of you for helping us shine the light. Thank you Thay.

Thank you for the synopsis of that movie about consumerism; it's not available on Amazon at the moment...interesting that these consumer-driven biases are still with us after all these years. Folks should just turn to Buddhism instead, but I wonder if the economic world would collapse if Buddhism really took root. Wars would stop, so there's that...
