Wow, that was a tough video to watch Mostly because seeing your pain in losing one of your animals. Your whole family is just so genuine. I hate it’s such a stressful situation with the dogs, but I guess you’ll just have to make your best decision based on the information that you have. We enjoy your family and the videos so much thank you.

Hey Jay...thank you for your kind words. It was really tough to lose him, as the goats are my babies and I feel like I let Dice down. The dogs love joining us on our adventures, so we hate to lock them in the house, but at this point they will just have to miss out when it comes to the animals. We hope you had a wonderful Holiday season ❤️

Hello my dears, out of all the beautiful and special things about dealing with the land and animals, we have the joys and the disappointments but also the sadness of losing one. It is sometimes the law of life. Kisses and hugs from Portugal ❤❤🫶🇵🇹🫶

Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words. Death is always a challenge to deal with, but especially with a little fluffy critter that was always excited to see you come and love on them. I hope all is well in Portugal! I am currently doing a running program on a fitness treadmill (NordicTrack) and we are touring through the South Western coast of Portugal...so incredibly beautiful!! Reminds me a lot of Southern California!

Thank you Julie ❤️. I truly do love each of the animals in their own way (Peter is a bit tough to love, being the big ugly boar he is, but I still find a bit to give him 😆). Hugs to you and Dave!

MY FAVORITE VIRGINIA RANCH HOMESTEAD FAMILY ! Sorry about the goat 🐐. You guys need a new dog edition to the family to help in herding, such as a Australian Shepherd or Blue Heeler who instinctively know how to keep the animals herded in the direction you want them. Also those 2 breeds will Never do the submission neck grab like a German Shepherd will. God Bless the Anderson family and Happy New Year. I pray 🙏🏼 2025 Is full of excitement, prosperity and happiness for you guys!!!! 👍🏼😁👍🏼

Hey CC! Yes, we definitely need a pup that can actually help us without us worrying that it will attack our animals. Brie has been begging for an Australian Shepherd, but right now having a puppy seems a bit overwhelming...we shall see! Praying your heart is doing well and that your New Year so far has been filled with love and joy ❤️

@@freedomranchhomestead7961 I vote for an Australian shepherd puppy too! (Maybe two!)☺

@@freedomranchhomestead7961 sounds like Brie is pretty smart 🤓, come on Brooke how can you turn her down? Listen if you give her the puppy it's gonna give her responsibility chores of taking care of it 🐕!! Tell her ok it's your responsibility to take care of it , feed and water it and clean up after it house break it not us your dad and I. U can say you take care of it or we get rid of it. I think she'll take care of it and it'll give her some responsibility to keep up with. I know she wants a Australian shepherd because they're great with horses when you're riding or rounding up your farm animals on foot or on horseback. As for my heart it's ok now it was a freak thing/ side effect due because my body didn't agree with taking Eliquis for Atrial Fibulation. But now I'm having older age men health problems now in the men's department. Just to say it that way, ugh 😫 if it's not one thing it's another I guess, it's a sign of getting old I suppose. But how can you turn down that precious face of Brie asking for a Australian shepherd puppy? 😂🤣. God Bless the Anderson family & I pray 2025 brings great and mighty things for the Glory of God your way!!! CC

Oh Brooke, Chuck and Brie! I’m so deeply sorry for the loss of Dice. I know how much you love Capella and Capone, a GSD prey drive is SO strong that they just don’t think straight when they go into that zone. I’m glad it wasn’t because of them that you lost Dice. I think that it’s a wise move to leave the pups in the house when you’re doing that type of work. I’m sending you all hugs for comfort. I really like Dr Jake, it’s cool that he’s educating as he goes along. Stay warm during these cold months. 💛🤗

Thank you so much for your kind words 💖. It was just so unexpected and with all the stress of herding the piglets, I just got so emotional about losing him. There is nothing worse than having an animal pass away while in your care 😢. Yes, Dr. Jake is awesome! We feel very fortunate to have him as our vet. Praying you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I don’t know what happened to my original comment but again Happy New Year to you and the family I have thought this before you should find a birthing cage for the sow she will get use to it and it save piglets from getting crushed and gives you access to the babies when they are new and later on you can get her out or in at any time to work on her or babies speaking from experience, I worked on a hog farm and took care of 50 breeding sows About four boars at any given time in about 500 feeders pigs that would go to market at 250 lbs pig, there are a lot smarter than people think they eat in one place day sleep in another and defecate. In another reason they wallow because they don’t sweat they remember of the elephant family who also don’t sweat.we casterated at 30 pounds when we dropped them on the floor pens

We have had the pups for 7 years and have only been on the ranch for 4 years, so they will be our homestead pups until they pass on (which hopefully won't be for a while!). We know they are not meant for working with the animals, but they are part of our family and protect us. One day in the future we will get a pup that is better for herding!
