Taking a phone is never the correct way to punish a child and dorthy seems old enough (this is an assumption) to have access to social media. if dorthy was 12 or under her mother could have just put a system on the phone that didn’t allow her child to download apps that were not for children. however, if she was older than 13, this would be an over controlling mother. her daughter was not doing any inappropriate or harmful things on social media from what i can see, so her mom is in the wrong here. edit: Dorothy said she was 15 at the time. she should have not been banned from social media.
