This backstory is actually sad, but I don’t know if it will excuse Tia’s actions. The fact that she named herself after a vengeful sea goddess isn’t too reassuring. She is one of the more dangerous merpeople we will encounter, though. I’m excited to see where this goes!

It doesn't excuse her actions. All she wants is revenge. She sees only the bad, dark side of humans in this show. Katrina may have been the same way but i think she's learned to accept that not all humans are bad. But not Tia.

Great but sad backstory. I really did like her in episode 1. She was less aggressive to Ryn. Ever notice how Tiaa mannerisms right now are calm and she’s looking around not staring her down. Her eyes lowered or soften when they meet Ryns eyes. Especially when they first meet so fascinating watching two predators meeting and deciding whether the other is a threat or friend.

Tia trying to start an armed conflict with all humans for the actions of a few..what happened to her should never have happened, but if shes willing to kill innocent humans that had nothing do do with what happened, then I'm not at all gonna feel sorry for her when she and her army are getting the hell blown out of them by AH-1 cobras, AC130 gunships, F/A-18 superhornets, and depth charging, tomahawk cruise missile carrying destroyers after they piss everyone off. If she wants to get blown away, let her. It shouldn't be Ryn's problem.

i like the idea of Tia's character but I don't like her casting. She doesn't look anywhere near as otherworldy as the other mermaids. She just looks like some middle aged lady with contacts. Oh well

This might sound like a stupid complaint and it's not that important to the story but why do the Russians always have to be the bad guys? The Russians are the people who did all those terrible things to Tia. On top of that Tia, the season's main antagonist comes form the waters around Russia (correct me if I'm wrong) making her kind of a russian mermaid. I'm so tired of this cliché: russians (and germans) always being the bad guys! It's getting so annoying and repetitive! Can't you think of something different?

@🌸Sakura🌸 Obviously I do and I absolutely don't agree with their actions. Hopefully the war can end soon because what's happening to Ukraine right now is terrible. But yk, the comment was made a year before, I had no idea what they were going to do. It's still an annoying pet peeve of mine because it's in so many movies/shows /books and I'm tired of seeing it again and again, but at least it's making sense with the current circumstances. Also, yes, Putin and Russians directly involved in the war are horrible. There are many people supporting them that are wrong. But it's still not okay to villainize an entire nation. There are manipulated people who just beleive the media and politicians. There are Russians who are against the war and their country's actions. They might not be a majority but that doesn't mean the entire country is straight up evil.
